Overview

Job Summary


Responsible for assigning and overseeing tasks and personnel within the manufacturing process research team. May act as a group leader and lead scientist focused on an in depth understanding of manufacturing processes for on-market Acute Care consumables (cartridges), taking into account regulatory, quality, design and manufacturing requirements. The Senior Process Research Group Leader shall take the lead on appropriate issues and projects, leading development milestones for process changes and provide justifiable product optimization insights by running designed experiments and working with R&D, quality, and the commercial organization to deliver short term, mid-term and long-term solutions.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Manages a group of scientists and/or technicians, sets priorities within the group, and holds group accountable to agreed timelines.
  • Utilizes appropriate tools to demonstrate in depth understanding of processes & product function to drive continuous improvement and deliver a higher quality product to the customer.
  • Prioritize projects based on impact (field and internal yield) and guides team to aid in enhanced understanding of processes and process/product boundary conditions.
  • Produces realistic schedules that are consistent with Quality System Change requirements.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in designing experiments to understand material interactions and to optimize process parameters. Coordinates and integrates product solutions with other technical groups, and at other sites.
  • Participates in strategic planning, budget discussions, and aggregate planning within the functional group.
  • Responsible for yearly review of department personnel and provides recommendations for required training and career development.
  • Prepares technical abstracts and papers for publication and/or presentation.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of scientific literature and competitive products.
  • Serves as an organization consultant and spokesperson on specialized projects or programs
  • Provides updates to senior management as required.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Networking/Key relationships


Responsible for cross-functional collaboration for technical solutions in on-market products, as well as new product development projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience for the position:


Education:

Knowledge acquired through a Bachelors, Masters or Ph. D. Degree. Electro-chemistry highly preferred, chemistry, biochemistry & bio-medical engineering

Experience:

  • Bachelors plus 10 years of relevant experience or
  • Masters plus 7 years of relevant experience or
  • Ph. D. degree in Chemistry, biochemistry, (electro-chemistry highly preferred) plus 3 years of relevant experience
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in managing scientists at various levels.

Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.
