JOB GOAL
To provide effective leadership, coordination and direction in the development, implementation and evaluation of all curricula, instructional programs, and a well-rounded education for the Cartwright Elementary School District.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience required.
- A Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
- Successful elementary (K-8) experience as a building principal.
- Evidence of leadership in delivery of professional development for teachers and administrators.
- Current Arizona Elementary, Secondary, or Principal certificate at time of application.
- At least five (5) years successful work experience in grades K-8 as an administrator of or within regular education programs.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred, but not required.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Develops methods of sharing educational innovative practices.
- Organizes and directs committees for the study, evaluation and revision of curriculum.
- Organizes and directs textbook adoption committees.
- Plans, directs and coordinates the District Inservice Training Program.
- Provides on-going data updates to the Deputy Superintendent and Governing Board on school progress.
- Works with the Deputy Superintendent to prepare professional development for all Governing Board retreats, special sessions, and presentations to keep informed with impactful teaching and learning.
- Conducting thorough and objective evaluations of Principals.
- Regularly reports and makes recommendations to the Deputy Superintendent on policies, practices and procedures for improving student achievement.
- Attends state, regional and national professional conferences related to responsibilities as approved by the Deputy Superintendent and governed by District policy.
- Oversees the implementation of a new teacher induction program.
- Works with Leadership in providing recommendations to the Deputy Superintendent for the continuous improvement of District educational programs.
- Works with building level administrators in the development of instructional leadership skills and shared decision-making.
- Oversees the design, delivery and alignment of curricula to the Arizona State Standards.
- Oversees principal development through learning rounds across schools
- Oversees and evaluates academic Standards, national content standards and District assessments with the specific outcome of improving student achievement for all students in the District.
- Oversees the development of District curricula as defined in Governing Board Policy.
- Oversees the provision of training and support to all curricula task forces in the technical aspects of curriculum development, assessment development, and planning for professional development.
- Collaborates with SEL and Family Services Leadership to ensure MTSS for behavior is implemented at all schools, including protocols and practices for Trauma Sensitive Schools.
- Oversees a communication system for keeping all stakeholders informed about curriculum work within the District.
- Oversees the preparation of program reports for the administrative team and Governing Board as needed.
- Oversees the design, delivery and evaluation of all extracurricular, special area programs, and interventions that increase student achievement and encourage parents to be involved in the learning of their children.
- Oversees the design, delivery and evaluation of student programs and interventions that increase student achievement.
- Oversees the development and implementation of student assessments that inform teacher practice and are aligned to the written curricula of the District.
- Oversees the implementation and monitoring of federal/state programs and accompanying budgets for all student-based projects, including Title I and other funding sources as assigned.
- Oversees the integration of regular education goals for improved student achievement into special education programs, including District literacy and mathematics initiatives.
- Continues own professional development through activities such as: involvement in professional organizations; attendance and presentation at professional conferences; facilitation of colleague visits and school visitations; preparation of publications; and continuous professional reading.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures for all organizations that have oversight over education (included, but not limited to: Cartwright School District, AZ Department of Health Services, Department of Economic Security)
