Wills eye Hospital, a non-profit specialty hospital, world-renowned for its clinical expertise, residency and fellowship program excellence, and innovative research initiatives is seeking a full-time faculty position available immediately in the Department of Resident Education. Applicants must be board eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
The successful candidate will lead the Ophthalmology Residency Training Program, overseeing its direction and operations. Required qualifications include expertise in the specialty and at least five years of experience in educational or administrative roles. The Program Director will manage all aspects of the program, including administration, teaching, scholarly activities, resident recruitment and selection, and the evaluation and promotion of residents. The role also involves guiding residents in their education within the context of patient care. As a key role model, the Program Director will exemplify professionalism, clinical excellence, and a strong commitment to resident education. The program will be aligned with the needs of the community and the mission of Wills Eye.
Primary Function:
Serves as the programmatic and operational leader for the Residency Program by working closely with a variety of stakeholders to achieve the strategic goals and objectives of the Residency Program. Contributes to a learning environment by providing educational and research experiences. Maintains the practice of active independent clinical medicine in Ophthalmology and in any applicable subspecialty of Ophthalmology and maintains productivity expectations within the applicable Wills Eye Ophthalmology Clinic. Creates an environment that encourages diverse opinion, recognizes differences and incorporates into process and services. Maintains membership in professional organizations to develop knowledge and resources through networking, continuing education, and participation in national, regional and/or local activities. Respects and protects the patients' rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes which are in the patients' best interest with full consideration of their legal rights. Primary Function:
- Provides clinical and administrative leadership to the Wills Eye Hospital Ophthalmology Residency at Jefferson (the "Residency Program") in compliance with ACGME accreditation. Supervises Residents and sees patients accordingly. Manages interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to assure collaboration and effective/efficient operations within Residency Program.
- Actively practices independent clinical medicine in specialty of Ophthalmology and in any applicable subspecialty of Ophthalmology.
Qualifications
Educational requirements:
- MD/DO
- MD/DO license in Pennsylvania
- Active ABO Certification
- Minimum five years (5) of relevant leadership experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to include the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts and build teams.
- Ability to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction including employees, patients, visitors, faculty, referring physicians and other stakeholders.
