Join our dynamic and forward-thinking team at Loyola University New Orleans, where we are dedicated to empowering students through holistic advising and coaching. As the Director of Advising and Coaching, you will lead a passionate team focused on shaping the academic, personal, and professional journeys of our students. The Director of Advising and Coaching is responsible for coordinating academic advising and success coaching efforts to help students persist with special emphasis on supporting all first-year students, undeclared sophomore students, and students who are otherwise identified as being at-risk. The Director is responsible for managing and developing a comprehensive, cross-unit strategic plan for holistic student advising and coaching including academic, career and personal guidance, consistent with the university's strategic plan and the Ignatian pedagogical emphasis on educating the whole person. The Director will supervise the Assistant Director of Coaching and Advising and oversee a team of staff advisor/coaches. With this team, the Director will conduct a program of professional development for staff and faculty engaged in advising and coaching. In addition, the Director will be responsible for developing systems that track student advising, gauge the productivity of staff advisor/coaches, and collect data about student satisfaction with campus advising and coaching support. The Director will develop programs in partnership with the Assistant Provost and fellow directors in the Student Success Center that help ensure the success of all Loyola students, especially first-year students.

- Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead a centralized team of advisor-coaches.
- Coordinate the hiring, training, and development of staff.
- Maintain a commitment to continued professional development and knowledge of best practices in the field, including attendance and participation at conferences and other professional development events.
- Set strategic goals and plans related to advising and coaching. Make decisions, recommendations, and measure outcomes to support student success in collaboration with Student Success directors and leaders.
- Collaborate with academic departments, deans offices, admissions, student affairs, and other units within student success to inform team priorities and communication.
- Collaborate with Enrollment Management to attract and enroll new students.
- Develop and conduct teaching and learning workshops for faculty, staff, and students. Collaborate with the Center for Teaching and Learning.
- Ensure the consistent production, collection and reporting of data related to the assessment of advising and coaching, such as student visit data and outcomes.
- Communicate effectively and confidently with students, families, faculty, and staff.
Student Engagement:
- Ensure prompt, consistent advising and coaching services.
- Oversee academic advising for first-year and exploratory studies students.
- Oversee advising-coaching assignments and roster strategy; coordinate assignments and updates with Student Records and colleges
- Work directly with students to facilitate academic planning toward degree completion, including using technology platforms to track degree progress.
- Lead, implement, and evaluate methods to identify and outreach to target student populations - including students on academic probation, financial aid warning, or other risk factors - in collaboration with Student Success leadership and campus partners
- Serve on university-wide committees as needed
- Teach one section of a success-focused class in Special Studies per academic year.
- Become a certified Success Coach.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of advising experience in the higher education context
- A minimum of 2 years of supervisory/managerial experience
- Advanced degree required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management, organizational, and leadership skills
- Dynamic interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in students and their persistence
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as required.

Candidates who meet the following qualifications will be considered for the position of Senior Director of Advising and Coaching:
- A minimum of 5 years of supervisory/managerial leadership experience in advising, coaching, or a related field.
- Proven track record managing multiple student-centered programs within a higher education environment.
- Advanced degree required.
- Supervision of the Office of Writing and Learning Services, including the director;
- Supervision of TRIO student support services, including the director;
- Act as the deputy leader of the Student Success Center in the absence of the Assistant Provost;
- Other duties as determined by the Assistant Provost.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to complete above duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Physical requirements to be expected within the scope of responsibilities include occasional light lifting; walking up and down stairs; ability to sit or remain stationary, sometimes for several hours at a time; and ability to work at a computer station for several hours per day.
