Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a working knowledge of the rules and regulations of various federal, state and local EHS regulatory agencies as they impact the manufacturing facility.
- Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies whenever appropriate, as directed by the EHS Director.
- In coordination with IP Corporation's EHS Director, develop and help maintain programs to ensure that the Plants are operating in compliance with all EHS regulations.
- Establish and maintain programs that will reduce the generation of all waste products from the manufacturing process, with an emphasis on the elimination of hazardous materials generation.
- Develop/maintain an in-depth familiarity with product chemistry.
- Manage and promote the ISO 14001 EMS Certifications held by the Minneapolis & Vadnais Heights Plants.
- Conduct periodic EHS facility audits to identify potential compliance irregularities and monitor program success.
- Present monthly EHS training topics and manage EHS concerns in a timely fashion.
- Maintain close communication with production planner, QC, and other internal related teams for engineering and related issues to meet timely production and quality goals.
- Monitor housekeeping (clean and orderly) in common areas, work areas, and storage locations to comply with regulatory bodies, such OSHA, Fire Dept., MPCA, County, etc.
- Communicate well with all plant personnel and corporate management.
- Capability to multi-task in a fast paced-cross functional environment. Punctuality and regularity of attendance are job requirements.
Other duties as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, chemical engineering or technical degree with equivalent work experience.
- 8 years industrial/manufacturing setting required
- 5+ years' experience in a chemical plant environment preferred
- 3+ years' previous experience in areas of regulatory Environment, Safety and Health
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Experience in quality systems such as ISO 14001.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
