LOCATION SUMMARY:
Located in Templeton amongst the oak trees, Adventist Health Twin Cities has been serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, our team provides exceptional care in emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical and outpatient services. Locals enjoy weekly farmers markets in downtown Templeton, farm-to-fork dining, beautiful landscapes for hiking and biking, and beach days just fifteen minutes away at Cambria and Morro Bay.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under direct physician orders or standard practice protocols, practitioner shall coordinate, evaluate, and perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures. Shall provide clinical expertise in all patient care areas; orientates staff and provide clinical instructions, and may perform rounds with physicians to discuss preferred treatment methods in an effort to provide respiratory care in an efficient, timely, and professional manner to all individuals and departments we serve.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Two years experience as a respiratory therapist, including one year experience within adult ICU/CCU. California Respiratory Care Practitioner Certificate. Knowledge of Respiratory Care protocols as recommended.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
(1) California Respiratory Care License (2) AHA-BLS-HCP (3) NRP within 6 months of hire or transfer. ACLS and PALS certification preferred.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Basic computer knowledge Communication is an essential skill requiring the ability to see, hear, and speak. Fluent in written and spoken English. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
PHYSICAL JOB CLASSIFICATION:
Heavy Work: Some lifting, or moving of equipment and supplies. Patient care responsibilities may include repositioning, gait assisting, CPR, and chest physiotherapy. See attached physical requirements for the job.
PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires full use of all large and small muscle groups for bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and grasping.
PATIENTS SERVED:
This position is responsible for age-related physiological, emotional and cognitive needs of the following age groups of patients: infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Includes, but not limited to: Patient assessments, vital signs, medication administration, physiological changes, and psychosocial needs.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
May be exposed to: Dust, Fumes (Human Waste), Human Body Fluids, Heat, Cold, Noise, Vibrations, Toxic Chemicals (Chemotherapy agents). Majority of the work is performed indoors protected from the elements.
