The Associate Director of Sports Medicine - Doctor of Physical Therapy will provide high-quality physical therapy services to student-athletes, focusing on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement. This role requires expertise in sports-related injuries and the ability to work collaboratively with athletic trainers, coaches, and other healthcare professionals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION: Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
EXPERIENCE: Experience in sports physical therapy or a related field preferred.
CERTIFICATION: Current and valid Physical Therapist license in the state of Florida. CPR and First Aid certification required; additional certifications in sports physical therapy (e.g., SCS) or manual therapy preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of sports injuries and rehabilitation techniques, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to accommodate the schedules of student-athletes. Must support the University's Catholic mission.
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Capability to perform physical activities, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with minimal safety hazards, and requires seated, standing, and movement work.

- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct initial evaluations and assessments of student-athletes with musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, or post-surgical conditions.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities to address injuries and promote recovery.
- Rehabilitation: Guide student-athletes through rehabilitation programs, ensuring progress is monitored and adjustments are made as needed to optimize outcomes.
- Education: Provide education to student-athletes on injury prevention, body mechanics, and exercise techniques to enhance performance and reduce the risk of future injuries.
- Collaboration: Work closely with athletic trainers, coaches, and medical staff to coordinate care and integrate physical therapy with overall athletic training and sports medicine plans.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with departmental and legal requirements.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with student-athletes, their families, and other healthcare providers regarding treatment plans, progress, and any concerns.
- Emergency Care: Assist with emergency care and first aid for injuries that occur during practices or games, in coordination with the athletic training staff.
