iA Financial Group is seeking aSenior Legal Counselto join the Legal Services team, primarily dedicated to supporting our subsidiary, iA Global Asset Management (iAGAM),one of Canada's largest asset managers, with over $100 billion in assets under management.
Your responsibilities, in collaboration with other team members, include:
- Providing legal support to iAGAM teams responsible for investment in debt, real estate, infrastructure, and private equity
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial and transactional agreements, including derivatives and financing agreements
- Providing legal advice related to portfolio management and investment funds regulation
- Anticipating, identifying, and assisting in managing legal risks associated with new investment strategies and activities, as well as new laws or regulations affecting the investment sector
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with business partners.
Profile
- Member of the Quebec Bar;
- Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in commercial and/or securities law within a law firm, asset management firm, or financial institution;
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, and ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders;
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities and work independently to provide legal support for major projects in a demanding and rapidly changing environment;
- Advanced level of English, both spoken and written, due to daily tasks to be performed in English, such as drafting and reviewing legal documents in English (80%) and meetings/calls with internal and external English-speaking partners (70%);
- Advanced level of French, both spoken and written.
- Previous experience in securities, financial services, derivatives transactions, or private placements (an asset).
