Description:
Analyze, setup, configure, and support data center and local server environments. Installs and maintains systems, applications, and server configurations. Troubleshoots server performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan. Recommends upgrades, patches, new applications and equipment. Responsible for managing both the software and hardware aspects of organization's server systems. Recommends, implements, diagrams, and maintains server architectures and interfacing with LAN and WAN. Familiar with a variety of technology best practices, concepts, and procedures. Under general supervision, manages a large and complex server environment, similar servers or group of servers. Performs a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to enable users to maximize productivity.
Under general supervision, administers a large and complex server network environment utilizing one or more networking technologies and/or server operating systems.
Evaluates and recommends purchases of infrastructure solutions including servers, networking hardware, and others as needed by project.
Provides technical services regarding use of server and network to satisfy business and user needs.
Under general supervision, installs, configures, and maintains server and network infrastructure: Windows servers, virtual servers, various network solutions, file servers, disaster recovery contingency planning, other related equipment, devices, and systems.
Manages file permissions, file system integrity, and security.
Maintains best practices in patching and cyber security on all server and networking systems.
Maintains site licenses, certificates, and other necessary auditable areas for the firm.
Coordinates scheduling of maintenance with proper emergency and change control procedures.
Troubleshoots servers, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational issues until functional.
Participates in testing of new hardware and software.
Conducts training and mentorship of junior level employees and/or end-users.
Ensures all systems for which they are responsible operate at peak efficiency and have the highest level of security intrusion prevention, minimizing downtime and outages in a proactive manner.
Recommends any improvements to leadership.
Participates in the firm's data disaster recovery program, which may require travel with minimal notice.
Provides after-hours support to computer users throughout the firm by being on call 24 hours a day periodically.
While on-call remains in a position to respond to calls, receive help calls, and to answer them quickly, thoroughly, and in a professional manner.
Resolves the problem if it can be identified, if not, contacts vendor support.
Works, occasionally, at different shifts outside of stated regular office hours.
Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems and keeps up with appropriate certifications.
Attends training sessions concerning skill development; travels to these sessions as required.
Keeps supervisor abreast of current issues and potential problems as they develop; seeks advice as needed.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in computer science or a related discipline preferred; and four years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Technical Skills:A strong understanding of VMWare, Cloud Computing, Windows Server, Active Directory, Okta, Citrix, Group Policy, Zerto, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, IIS, SANs, NAS, software, hardware, networking, database, and other systems administrative skills is essential.Administers a complex network or group of networks typically consisting of around 1500 or more nodes, demonstrate skills in networking and server operating systems.
