Position Description
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world-renowned scientific research organization located on the North Shore of Long Island, is hiring an Assistant Director of Student Affairs.
As part of the School's administrative team, the Assistant Director of Student Affairs will oversee and advise graduate students from the CSHL School of Biological Sciences and Stony Brook University's programs. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for the summer Undergraduate Research Program by liaising with CSHL faculty and administrative staff, and programmatic assessment and outreach efforts.

Position Responsibilities
- Lead the student selection process for the summer Undergraduate Research Program, oversee the program;
- Advise and mentor CSHL and SBU graduate students;
- Act as the liaison between the School and SBU graduate programs;
- Coordinate on-campus and virtual events related to School activities;
- Collect and analyze data related to assessment and evaluation of the School's educational programs, prepare reports for internal and external distribution summarizing such analyses;
- Stay up to date with advances in undergraduate, and graduate training
Position Requirements
EDUCATION:
- PhD degree is required.
- Postdoctoral experience preferred.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel and graphic arts software, such as PowerPoint and Adobe Illustrator.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, high level of independent judgment and sensitivity.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Rigorous attention to detail.
- Positive, forward-thinking, mission-oriented attitude a must.
- Demonstrated interest in educational outreach preferred.
