Description:
This position will ensure taxes are filed timely and accurately with all local and state tax organizations. The Senior Tax Accountant is also responsible for training and approving tax returns for Decentralize DOF. The Senior Tax Accountant is also responsible for assisting the Tax Director with tax issues and notices and extensive tax research and communication with owners and hotel personnel.

- Prepare/Complete monthly tax returns
- Ensure timely fling of all sales, use and occupancy returns
- Reconcile balance sheet account to ensure all tax returns are posted correctly
- Support/Assist Controllers & General Managers regarding tax overages/shortages
- Communicate with various tax authorities
- Assist with monthly and quarterly SOX audit requests
- Assist with compiling necessary support for tax audits
- Perform additional projects and duties as needed
- Manage and review tax returns for Decentralize hotels
- Reviewing Profitsword tax mapping and PMS to ensure tax implications accurately.
- Finalize Tax filings, register and/or close tax accounts properly, and various other administrative replies.
- Respond to owner inquiries and prepare as-needed tax schedule requests from Tax Authorities, and internal/external auditors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or the equivalent in work experience preferred
- 3 to 5 years of Sales & Use Tax (SUT) experience required.
- Ability to perform tax research and reach the appropriate conclusion.
- Experience working with multiple projects simultaneously is required.
- Ability to manage and track multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Requires an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles reports and terminology.
- Extended hours may be required at times.
- Experience in the hospitality field preferred
- Necessary skills and abilities:
- Ability to analyze raw data to reconcile the trial balance and sales and use tax returns.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and delegate team members.
- Self-motivated and strong problem-solving.
- Strong multi-tasking and priority-setting skills
- Extremely organized
- Ability to make decisions and ensure follow through with the task from begin to end.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience in Oracle is a plus
