Summary

The Director of Model Risk Management supports the implementation and execution of bank-wide model risk management policies and procedures, including model governance and performance monitoring, in line with regulatory guidance. Responsibilities include reviewing complex models, maintaining model documentation protocols, developing model risk reports, and managing the model inventory. This role collaborates with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • MS in Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Banking, Risk Management, or a Quantitative Role
  • Knowledge of DFAST stress testing regulations and requirements
  • Understanding of basic risk management concepts and principles
  • Expertise in SR 11-7, Supervisory Guidance on Model Risk Management
  • Experience with programming languages (R, Python, SQL)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with a commitment to extraordinary service
  • Participation in all required compliance training

Job Functions
  • Manage model risk across the model lifecycle, including validation, performance evaluation, and annual reviews
  • Maintain a complete and accurate model inventory
  • Provide recommendations for model design, development, back testing, implementation, and recalibration
  • Perform independent review and validation of models for capital stress testing, interest rate risk measurement, compliance, and management decision-making
  • Facilitate effective challenge and independent validation
  • Coordinate third-party validation engagements and review results
  • Challenge model assumptions, mathematical formulations, and implementations
  • Prepare written summaries and analyses of validation work
  • Present model validation findings to senior management and regulatory authorities
  • Represent the bank in regulatory interactions
  • Support reporting projects in compliance with policy, governance, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate MRM projects to enhance the Model Risk Management framework

Supervisory Responsibility
  • Manages employees, including coaching, development, and performance management
