Description

The Director of Nursing shall report to the Dean of Applied Sciences. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Supervise the coordination, preparation, and execution of simulation scenarios for nursing classes and operate various nursing simulation equipment.
  • Coordinates and supervises all activities in the Nursing credit programs, i.e., Nursing and Certified Nursing Assistant; oversees assigned staff.
  • Coordinates the curriculum development of the Nursing programs; obtains approval from the New Mexico Board of Nursing Standards before instituting curriculum changes; creates a plan to maintain compliance with the standards of the National Accrediting Body for Nursing; monitors, updates, and documents compliance with the Systematic Program Evaluation Plan.
  • Maintain satisfactory relationships with all of the college and affiliating agencies.
  • Recommends clinical sites/agencies for the operation of the Nursing programs.
  • In collaboration with the Dean of Applied Sciences, be responsible for the initial instructional/faculty evaluation of the Nursing programs.
  • Prepares and supervises the nursing program budget according to the college's guidelines.
  • Participates in the recruitment and employment of the Nursing faculty and recommends selection to the Dean of Applied Sciences.
  • Recommends and schedules teaching assignments in the Nursing programs.
  • Participates in the recruitment and pre-enrollment activities of the Nursing programs and the college.
  • Maintains the appropriate records for the nursing programs, including minutes, budgets, and student and graduate records.
  • Prepares grant applications for the Nursing programs.
  • Assists with the faculty development programs.
  • Interview and counsel, as needed, all pre-nursing nursing students
  • Provides information concerning licensure procedures to graduates.
  • Counsels graduates upon request.
  • Notify all students who apply to the Nursing programs of their acceptance or non-acceptance.
  • Maintains records for graduate endorsements.
  • Be responsible for all activities of the local monitoring board for continuing nursing education.
  • Participates on college committees and boards as assigned.
  • Represent the college at local, state, regional, and national nursing meetings (as budget permits).
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a nurse educator complemented by extensive experience in a nursing or healthcare practice OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Board of Nursing issued Registered Nursing License.

Additional Information

This is a twelve-month exempt position. Standard benefits apply. The full pay range for this position is $95,980 to 139,825.
