POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Director of Open Enrollment Programs will contribute to the strategic growth and success of executive education at the Weatherhead School of Management. This senior management position will lead the development, marketing, sales and launch of new open enrollment programs to accelerate the growth of executive education's open enrollment programs. This is one of three positions reporting directly to the Executive Director of Executive Education.

This position will be responsible for developing new open enrollment programs both in topic areas and format (online, blended, and in residence). The director will work with faculty to develop new programs and will develop strategic marketing campaigns targeting appropriate program audiences to drive awareness and enrollments.

The director will be accountable for the revenue, profitability, and quality of the programs portfolio with responsibility for top line revenue and contribution margin goals. These goals will be met by developing new programs, managing existing programs (currently approximately 60) and actively marketing all the programs. In addition, the director will oversee the affiliate account sales efforts which account for 50% of the budget and the registration manager who is responsible for inside sales efforts.

New program development along with increasing enrollment in existing programs will drive growth in open enrollment. The reputation of the Weatherhead School will be enhanced as a result of marketing, development and delivery of distinctive education experiences regionally, nationally and internationally.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the development of new programs to the portfolio based upon market needs/demands. Will require constant scanning of the business environment to identify relevant topics. Program formats (online, blended, in residence) will be tailored to meet market demand. Develop online programs to be a substantial portion of the open enrollment portfolio includes working internally with university resources regarding platform and payment issues to ensure student satisfaction. Identify and recruit faculty and external presenters to develop marketable programs. Develop program development process to move programs through development to market quickly and efficiently. (40%)
  • Develop strategic marketing plan to promote programs and increase enrollment. Will entail working closely with marketing leaders (internal and external experts) to implement multi-faceted (B2B, B2C, social media, print, etc.) marketing campaigns for overall portfolio promotion as well as targeted plans for specific programs to drive enrollment. Analyze and measure results of all marketing efforts and adjust efforts to reach desired results. In addition to external social media and advertising efforts, the director will be responsible for implementing email campaigns to existing database includes development of e-newsletter and schedule of content. (20%)
  • Develop annual budget in collaboration with the executive director. Manage overall budget to meet yearly revenue and margin goals. Responsible for overall growth of affiliate accounts; will work closely with the affiliate director to identify new clients and develop retention strategies for existing clients. Work with the director of Operations and program managers to create program pro forms and to ensure program expenses are on budget and margin targets are met. Periodically analyze program fees to maintain competitive edge. (15%)
  • Manage existing portfolio of programs (currently approximately 60 standalone programs and 11 certificate programs combinations of standalone programs). Work with faculty to devise and incorporate new pedagogically sound activities to include in programs in line with the school's standards for active/action learning, i.e., co-create meaningful experiences in the open enrollment arena. Work with the director of operations to develop processes to monitor existing portfolio performance. (10%)
  • NONESSENTIAL FUNCITONS

  • Responsible for working with appropriate credentialing organizations (BCC and ICF) for the credentialing of coaching courses. Will include analyzing course content to align with certification requirements and submitting appropriate documents to the organizations. (5%)
  • Work closely with the director of operations on program execution, participant engagement, and budget management. Monitor satisfaction with programs and administrative processes, i.e., registration, exception requests, program evaluations, etc. (5%)
  • Participate in meetings and discussions on projects and decisions that impact the entire executive education team. Track executive education market and competitor trends strategies. Assist with the planning and development of sales campaigns for programs outside of open enrollment. (3%)
  • Handle incoming requests for information about the programs where appropriate. (1%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned. (1%)
  • CONTACTS

    Department: Daily contact with faculty directors and all management school executive education staff, to maintain workflow.

    University:Daily contact with the management school, faculty, and staff.

    External: Regular Contact with CEOs, presidents, senior managers, and HR executives of client and prospective client organizations, program participants, consultants, and guest faculty.

    Students: Regular contact with both students and Executive Education clientele.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position will supervise the assistant director of open enrollment; director of affiliate accounts; and registration manager.

    QUALIFICAITONS

    Experience: 10 years of experience in executive education or management development including online program development.Minimum of 3 years successful experience selling and marketing services to high-level executives required.Strategic planning experience preferred.

    Education/Licensing: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in business, education, organization development or related field preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
  • Experience assessing distance learning alternatives a plus.
  • Experience with instructional design of online courses.
  • Demonstrated history of successful support, education, and advocacy for all students, aligned with the values, mission, and messaging of the university, while adhering to the staff policy on conflict of commitment and interest.
  • Ability to meet consistent attendance.
  • Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face-to-face.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS

    Fast paced constantly changing working environment requiring adaptability and flexibility. Job may require long hours, including evenings and weekends. Job requires travel, must have reliable form of transportation to attend client appointments.

    Hybrid Eligibility

    This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
