Position Description
The Adult Program at Surrey Place is seeking an Occupational Therapist to support our Core Services and our Services for Partners and Organizations (SPO). Work within the SPO program will involve providing services to communities outside Toronto, including Northwestern Ontario, both virtually and in-person. The successful candidate will report to the manager of Adult Services. The Occupational Therapist works as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide occupational therapy services to enhance self-care, leisure and productivity skills, and increase independence and quality of life. This position requires an ability to work with individuals ranging from four years of age through to adulthood. Opportunities for internal and external (funded) professional development and education are available.

Main Responsibilities
- May include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide assessment, treatment, consultation and/or service planning for individuals with developmental disabilities both on-site, in the community. and from home (hybrid work model)
- Provide educational services to staff, outside professionals and agencies/stakeholders to support individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities.
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to Occupational Therapy placement students.
- Participate in programming, service development and evaluation for Occupational Therapy services.
- Ability to work 9-5 Monday through Friday, with flexibility to manage your own schedule
- Regular travel throughout the GTA is required (travel reimbursed)
- Ability to work with communities outside Toronto which could include 2 yearly trips to Northwestern Ontario.
- Additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- Member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
- One year of related experience working as an Occupational Therapist.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, and their families / caregivers.
- Knowledge of motor and cognitive development (including both typical and atypical development), sensory processing, self-regulation and executive functioning.
- Additional training in areas such as augmentative communication and writing aids, mental health, adaptive equipment or working with individuals with FASD considered an asset.
- Knowledge of and experience applying occupational therapy theories and models.
- Experience administering and interpreting standardized and non-standardized assessments.
- Experience setting goals and creating / implementing occupational therapy interventions using a mediator (consultative) model and / or direct service approach based on evidence-based best practices.
- Ability to participate in program development and group facilitation.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working on interdisciplinary teams and working collaboratively with community service providers is considered an asset.
- Fluency in French or another language is considered an asset.
- A valid Ontario driver's license Class "G" is considered an asset.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- A satisfactory Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector Screening).
