Sonographer Clinical Educator - Echocardiogram

Full-Time / 40 Hours / Days (Mon - Fri)

Summary:
Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, evaluates, and controls activities related to education within the Noninvasive Cardiology department. Responsible for facilitating the professional growth, skill development, and competency of all Noninvasive Cardiology staff, cardiac sonography employed trainees and students on clinical rotation from a sonography program. Oversees the orientation process for new hires within Noninvasive Cardiology. Performs specialized echocardiograms independently including but not limited to; Transesophageal (TTE) echo, Transthoracic (TEE) echo, stress echo, 3D, Doppler, color Doppler, and Strain imaging echocardiograms for inpatient (IP), outpatient (OP) and offsite settings.
Formal Education Required:
a. Completion of a Sonography program from an accredited school of ultrasound technology
b. Bachelor's degree is preferred
Experience & Training Required:
a. Five (5) years of Cardiac Sonography experience with a significant focus on adult and critical care cardiac sonography.
b. Current registry in the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) specific to Echocardiography.
c. Basic Life Support
3. Other Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications:
a. Population-Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
b. Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills needed to maintain constructive working relationships within the department
c. Analytical skills are required to effectively meet the needs of patients, families, and members of the healthcare team on a regular basis
d. Intermediate desktop computer skills required to communicate electronically, work with word processing and spreadsheet applications, clinical information management systems, and system design
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
