Executive Assistant to the Commissioner
Position Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000
Starting Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience
The Virginia State Corporation Commission ("SCC" or "Commission") seeks an Executive Assistant to support one of our three Commissioners. The Commissioner's Executive Assistant manages the daily administrative operations of their assigned Commissioner's office. The major responsibilities of the Executive Assistant include: managing the Commissioner's calendar; coordinating meetings, tracking initiatives, tasks or special projects to ensure deadlines are met; managing travel for the Commissioner and periodically traveling to professional association meetings to support administrative requirements; and supporting collaborative travel to ensure accuracy and consistency among Commissioners, Directors and Staff by partnering with Travel Coordinators and division staff. The Executive Assistant manages administrative affairs for the Commissioner by managing phone calls; managing email and written documents; referring inquiries regarding Commission policies, rules and regulations to the appropriate resources; managing the Commissioner's compliance filings; maintaining a complex filing system; and supplies management. The selected candidate for this position will also be responsible for reviewing legal opinions, speeches, articles, and other highly confidential materials for proper citation and grammatical construction; preparing complex correspondence and special reports; assembling and documenting orders, testimony, petitions, motions, and notes to prepare a complete record for review by the Commissioner; transferring the Commissioner's notes and records to the case file after hearings; and related work as required. This position offers a hybrid work schedule in accordance with the SCC Hybrid Work policy but days in office may vary based on job requirements and discretion of the Commissioner.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for this position include considerable experience providing executive administrative support in a professional setting. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading skills, are essential. The ideal candidate for this position will exercise initiative and maintain discretion and confidentiality. Ideal candidates will also be professional, dependable, and self-motivated. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are both essential for this role. The ability to work independently with limited supervision, multi-task while prioritizing work on competing deadlines, and to communicate on behalf of the Commissioner is required. The selected candidate must be able to work in the downtown Richmond office as needed.
