SEG supports the US Navy and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) by performing trade studies, design prototyping, and analysis of radars, EO/IR sensors, RF seeker systems, electronic warfare systems, and weapon systems. For this position, we are seeking an experienced RF Seeker engineer to conduct trade studies, evaluate design alternatives, create seeker physical design, signal processing loops, tracking and discrimination loops, and RF sensor concept of operations to ultimately lead to a digital representation of the RF seeker for inclusion in deliverable simulations to our government customers and end-users. The engineer will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, supporting a team of engineers and software developers to design and develop simulation solutions, and demonstrating that capability to our government customers and other critical stakeholders.

What you will do...

The candidate should be able to identify the RF critical design points to include sensor type, antenna size, antenna gimbal limits, gimbal slew rates, maximum transmitted power, transmit power demands, modes of operation and operating timelines, scan patterns and waveforms, operating frequencies, pulse repetition frequency, and signal processing chains and algorithms for detection, track, clutter mitigation, and electronic protection. The ideal candidate has 15 to 20 years of RF seeker systems engineering experience including RF seeker physical design, signal processing design and analyses, and seeker testing.

Skills you will need...

Required Skills:
  • The candidate must be a US citizen and have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance
  • Candidates must possess at least a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Candidates must have at least 6 to 10 years of experience with a Bachelor of Science, or 4 to 8 years with a Master of Science, or 2 to 6 years with a PhD in the design of, or analysis of RF sensor systems, seekers, or electronic warfare systems.
  • Strong people skills and technical leadership experience are a must.

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience performing RF system modeling, performance prediction, and data analysis
  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing and/or Digital Beam Forming
  • Familiarity with electronic attack and protection techniques
  • Radar engineering analysis, including the use of Blake charts
  • Focal plane array designs (including AESA) and analysis
  • Strong Matlab, Python, and C++ skills
  • Graduate-level coursework and/or hands-on project experience in radar systems and RF signal processing
  • Prior experience with sensor HW design, signal processing, tracking algorithms, and/or RF resource management
  • Experience in sensor modeling and simulation including algorithm and software development
  • Experience in development of simulation tools and test tools for sensor analysis
