Our team consists of electrical and software engineers with support on the mechanical side. Our team handles the development of a variety of controllers that control airflow, heating, cooling, lighting and require high reliability firmware and software. The Role
Our team continues to grow and we are looking for a Engineering Manager to lead our team and manage our engineering department. You will be leading a team of 5-7 engineers and work closely with our applications engineering/support team. Robust and reliable controllers are key to our success. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of product designers
- Navigate and lead the team through all stages of product development projects
- Communicate with our customer-facing team members to determine, define and manage feature requirements
- Work collaboratively with our Operations team to ensure smooth transition of design changes and product releases to production
- Improve processes and introduce new tools to create efficiencies
- Stay up to date with trends in development tools, technology, and industry trends
- Manage multiple projects and remain flexible in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Coordinate projects by priority and lead the team with our strategic vision
- Deliver solutions on schedule and within budget
- Hire, train, evaluate performance and manage salaries of team members
- Participate in budget planning and reporting on department metrics
- Ensure test coverage and mentor the team on design verification testing
- Manage testing spaces and equipment
- Foster a culture of innovation and learning
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- A College Diploma or University Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- At least 5 years in a design role on an engineering team
- Leadership skills with experience managing a multidisciplinary engineering team
- Experience with software development with practice in C and/or C++ programming
- Experience with embedded hardware design is considered an asset
- An aptitude and desire for customer service excellence
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- An aptitude for business and experience with performing product cost analysis
- A high level of critical thinking and accountability
- The ability to identify and solve root cause problems with simple solutions
- A drive to use data to inform decision making with a bias toward action
- Active listening skills and the ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbally
- The ability to
