Description:
As Director of Architecture, you will lead a team of architects to oversee all aspects of project design, development, and delivery. You will be responsible for establishing scope, budget, timeline and quality standards for multiple projects. Reporting to the SVP of Architecture, key responsibilities include managing consultants, leading permitting and approvals, and ensuring smooth collaboration across departments. As the main point of contact for external stakeholders, strong communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full architectural process from concept to handover, delivering projects on schedule and on budget
- Supervise a team of architects and coordinate internal/external resources/consultants
- Perform feasibility studies, evaluate regulations, and advise on site selection
- Develop and maintain project schedules, overseeing simultaneous projects at different stages
- Review and verify construction documents, approving revisions and change orders
- Lead the permitting process, preparing for public hearings and attending meetings
- Act as technical expert, advising project teams and solving complex issues
- Communicate project status regularly through reports, meetings and project management systems
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Professional degree in architecture with NCARB certification
- Minimum 10 years' experience leading architectural projects in multifamily/hospitality sectors
- Licensed architect with in-depth technical knowledge
- Exceptional verbal, written communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong leadership, multitasking and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam and MS Office suite for documentation
- Experience using project management software like Smartsheet for planning and tracking
- Self-motivated team player able to collaborate cross-functionally
- Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites as required
- Must be a US citizen or legally allowed to work in the US without the need for a work permit
