Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Data Science Role
  • Developing and implementing performance measures through a formal defined measure/metric development process
  • Conducting self-directed data analysis and exploration to determine and predict positive and negative trends and provide management recommended actions.
  • Identifying leading and lagging indicators to accurately depict organizational health.
  • Making predictions using data visualizations, user-centric interactive dashboards, and reports
  • Provides subject matter expertise and leadership on the continuous evolution of the metric platforms.
  • Communicate analysis both in writing and orally effectively with customers and stakeholders.
  • Provide expertise to customers and stakeholders in the features, benefits, and application of Tableau's products. It requires a deeper understanding of the Server product(s) and its integration into client solutions, and an intermediate level understanding of our Desktop/frontend products including Tableau Administrator Functions.
  • Conduct training and benchmarking on modern approaches to data science/analysis (AI, ML, etc.) and provide use cases to management.
  • Lead or participate in conducting ad-hoc onsite analysis for urgent management reporting.
  • Provide a broader appreciation of business issues and translate more sophisticated customer requirements into achievable Tableau technical solutions.
  • Help build and maintain a metric dictionary of important performance measures.
Lessons Learned (LL) Program Role:
  • Responsible for helping manage the Lessons Learned Program
    • Evaluating for quality and content of internal LL Submittals for publication in databases
    • Evaluate external LL for sharing within the internal LL system
    • Meet with internal stakeholders and customers to discuss positive LL, issues, concerns, or technical editing of LL submittals to assure high quality products and services
    • Maintain the LL database
    • Maintain LL Procedure and flow down requirements
  • Responsible for meeting with DOE and DOE Contractor's Community of Practice to discuss LL information from the DOE Operating Experience
Human Performance Improvement (HPI) Role:
  • Support in implementing the charter and project plan initiatives.
  • Attend or participate in HPI Community of Practices internal and external to DOE
  • Perform or participate on HPI evaluation teams
  • Perform Human Performance related tracking and trending as requested
  • Perform HPI Specific Administrative Controls (SAC) evaluations and perform training for HPI SACs
Training Role:
  • Assist with helping develop and deliver HPI Training Courses
  • Assist analytics team with training associated with Analytics (Data Visualization, Tableau, and other analytics courses in EF&I)
  • Able to become a Qualified Instructor or currently qualified
  • Others as requested
Other duties and special projects as assigned to EF&I.
  • Acting for Manager, Enterprise Feedback and Improvement on an as needed basis
  • Attending Team Meetings and providing input as needed
  • Attending meetings to represent/speak to/explain the Weekly Issues Report and associated Metrics
  • Special Projects as requested


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM: Minimum 3 years of relevant data analytics experience, OR Master's degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience. Or a combination of a Bachelor's degree with 3 years of analytical experience.
  • Knowledge required to perform data analytics that includes statistics, decision sciences, machine learning, reporting technologies, and/or predictive analytics
  • Experience in data mining, trend analysis and visualization
  • Experience in identifying flaws in source data
  • Experience in graded approaches to validating aggregated data
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Business Analytics/STEM with at least 8 years of relevant progressive experience
  • Demonstrate experience using analytic tools such as Excel, Tableau and programming languages (such as SQL, Python and R) to perform analytics
  • Project management
  • Technical skills across various technologies & impeccable discernment.
  • Knowledge of databases, warehouses, business intelligence systems and data analysis tools.
  • Experience in SQL, SAML, network troubleshooting, as well as architecting critical systems for high availability, failover, disaster recovery, and duplication


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's or Master's in STEM related degree.
