The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Ophthalmology Division will be a key executive responsible for overseeing the financial health, strategy, and performance of the division. This role combines strategic financial leadership with operational oversight to ensure the division's long-term growth and profitability. The CFO will work closely with the President of Ophthalmology and senior management to develop and execute financial strategies, manage financial risks, and support key business decisions. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the growth and profitability of the Ophthalmology Division.
- Provide strategic financial guidance and insights to the President of Ophthalmology and CEO, senior leadership team, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the executive team to set and execute long-term financial goals and operational objectives.
- Drive financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes to ensure alignment with overall business goals.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial statements, reports, and forecasts for the ophthalmology division.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting, both internally and externally.
- Manage the financial reporting cycle, including quarterly and annual financial reviews, audits, and regulatory filings.
- Analyze financial performance and key metrics, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for cost control.
Cash Flow & Capital Management
- Optimize the division's cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations, investments, and growth initiatives.
- Develop and manage capital allocation strategies, balancing investment in new technology, facilities, R&D, and other growth opportunities.
- Manage relationships with financial institutions, investors, and other stakeholders to secure financing as needed.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and industry-specific healthcare requirements.
- Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate risks, including in areas of insurance, credit, and market volatility.
- Ensure robust internal controls are in place to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and maintain financial integrity.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and manage the finance team, including accounting, financial planning, and analysis functions.
- Mentor and develop finance staff, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration between finance and other departments such as operations, sales, marketing, and R&D.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) & Partnerships
- Lead financial due diligence and integration processes for any potential mergers, acquisitions, or strategic partnerships.
- Evaluate new business opportunities, including potential acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnerships in the ophthalmology space.
Performance Optimization & Cost Management
- Analyze the division's cost structure and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings.
- Recommend financial and operational improvements to optimize margins, improve productivity, and drive profitability.
- Work closely with the operations and sales teams to ensure alignment between financial goals and operational performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or CPA is highly preferred.
- Experience: At least 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with a proven track record in the healthcare or ophthalmology sector.
- Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of the ophthalmology industry, including trends, regulations, and financial challenges specific to eye care providers, medical devices, or pharmaceuticals.
- Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading and managing a finance team, as well as working collaboratively with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting tools. Experience with ERP and financial software systems is a must.
- Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights. Strong business acumen and strategic mindset.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of healthcare-specific regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, FDA regulations, reimbursement systems) is a plus.
