Job Description
The Assistant Director of Research and Evaluation will support LEI's mission by overseeing the institute's research activities, developing and implementing research initiatives, and leading assessment and evaluation projects. This role is instrumental in driving evidence-based practices and contributing to educational advancements within LEI. Working closely with faculty, researchers, and other institute stakeholders, this position will report directly to the Associate and Executive Directors at LEI.This position at LEI offers the opportunity to lead meaningful research and assessment initiatives that drive educational impact. Working Environment
The Learning Engineering Institute is housed on the Tempe Campus of ASU near downtown Tempe. Arizona State University is located in the Phoenix/Scottsdale metropolitan area and offers all of the amenities of a large urban/winter resort area.
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of a desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related administrative experience, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience; OR, Nine (9) years of related administrative experience, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Employee must possess a valid US Drivers license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.

Essential Duties
Research Coordination and Leadership
- Assist in developing and executing research strategies to support LEI's objectives.
- Collaborate with researchers, ASU faculty, and external partners to design and conduct research projects.
- Ensure ethical standards and best practices in research methodologies, timelines, and budgeting.
- Provide guidance to early career researchers on research methods, analysis, and dissemination.
- Develop and implement assessment frameworks to evaluate program effectiveness and educational impact.
- Guide the creation of assessment tools, rubrics, surveys, and data collection instruments.
- Work with instructional designers to align assessment methodologies with learning objectives.
- Oversee data collection, management, and analysis for research and evaluation purposes.
- Utilize quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze data and generate insights.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency through collaboration with data analysts.
- Prepare and present research findings and assessment results to LEI leadership, faculty, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to academic publications, conferences, and professional networks to share knowledge and research outcomes.
- Promote the integration of research findings into LEI's projects, educational technologies, and instructional materials.
- Build and maintain relationships with ASU faculty, partners across the institution, and external partners.
- Provide consultation on research design, data analysis, and evaluation practices.
- Engage in collaborative projects aimed at enhancing diversity and educational innovation within LEI and the broader ASU community.
