Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the BBF Director, this position manages the fiscal operations for the DOJ, which has a highly diverse budget over $100M with many different fund sources. The Finance Section Manager leads a team of professionals and paraprofessionals in providing the array of financial services. This includes five (5) accountants, two (2) financial specialists, and several limited term employees.
This position is responsible for the development of financial procedures, maintaining the internal control plan, coordinating audits, and overseeing the preparation of financial reports, including the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) financial statements. This position certifies to the accuracy of all department financial transactions at year end during the Annual Appropriation Certifications and quarterly through federal SF-425 reporting of grants.
This position is also responsible for the development and maintenance of all department accounting records, processing of accounting transactions, ensuring compliance with federal and state rules and regulations, and developing and implementing the federal indirect cost proposal. This position also oversees the single audit monitoring and DOJ grantees. Directs the fiscal portion of the department's aids payments and approves and assists with the reconciliation of payroll and fringe benefit transactions.
The Finance Management Supervisor is a key leader within the BBF and the DMS management team. As part of the BBF and DMS management teams, the individual in this role must work collaboratively with team members from across the division and department.
Salary Information
The Financial Management Supervisor position is in pay schedule 81 and pay range 02. The starting pay will be between $45.00 - $51.85/hour (approx. $93,600 - $107,848 annually). Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 2-year career executive trial period is required.
Job Details
This position may be eligible to work remotely as part of a hybrid schedule, following an initial training period. Reporting to the headquarters in Madison, including reporting on multiple consecutive workdays if needed. Travel to the headquarters is not eligible for travel reimbursement.
High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

- Supervising or leading staff in a financial setting (e.g., delegation of work, hiring, performance evaluation, project management, etc.)
- Interpreting and applying fiscal and procurement regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Implementing and auditing financial systems and processes
- Experience performing financial duties in a public or non-profit setting
- Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- A bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
