JOB TITLE: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
JOB DETAILS: The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will join the Lazarus Program, a dedicated street outreach team, providing comprehensive medical and mental health care to individuals experiencing homelessness. This role reports directly to the Program Supervisor for programmatic and operational aspects of outreach activities, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Director of Psychiatry for all medical-related responsibilities and clinical oversight. The PMHNP will deliver direct client care, supervise other nursing staff at Camillus House, and ensure high-quality, coordinated care across outreach and on-site programs. Responsibilities include assessing, diagnosing, and managing mental health and medical needs, prescribing medication as appropriate, and overseeing nursing staff performance, training, and compliance.
Salary (Paid in US Dollars)
$125,000.00

Requirements
Successful completion of Toxicology test, L2 fingerprints, local background screening, and OIG reference check.
Valid FL Driver License
Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications
- Education: Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialty in Psychiatry/Mental Health from an accredited program.
- Certification: Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Licensure: Active and unrestricted NP license in Florida, with authorization to prescribe controlled substances.
- Language: Proficiency in oral/written English. Bilingual (i.e., Spanish) preferred; additional languages a plus (i.e., Creole)
- Skills: Proficiency in computer (Word, Excel, other data collecting programs).
Requirements

Direct Care and Assessment:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health conditions, and assess clients' needs in street-based settings.
- Provide comprehensive mental and physical health care, addressing acute and chronic conditions, often involving co-occurring substance use disorders.
Treatment Planning and Management:
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, crisis intervention, and mental health counseling.
- Monitor and manage clients' psychiatric medications, ensuring safe administration and coordination of follow-up care.
- Educate clients on prescribed treatments, medication adherence, and overall wellness.
Outreach and Engagement:
- Build rapport with clients using trauma-informed, harm-reduction approaches to encourage engagement with healthcare services.
- Collaborate with outreach team members, including case managers, CNAs, and peer support specialists, to provide holistic, client-centered care in the field.
Supervision and Training:
- Provide clinical oversight and mentorship to nurses across Camillus House programs, including street outreach and on-site nursing teams.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, ensure adherence to clinical protocols, and support ongoing professional development for nursing staff.
- Develop and lead training sessions in best practices for mental health, addiction treatment, trauma-informed care, and field-based nursing.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of all interactions, assessments, and treatment plans in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) and the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), as applicable, to document encounters and client progress.
- Ensure that all nursing staff meet documentation standards, supporting quality assurance initiatives and regulatory compliance.
Collaboration and Community Coordination:
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, social workers, addiction specialists, and healthcare providers, to coordinate client care.
- Engage with local health and social service providers, shelters, clinics, hospitals, and law enforcement to facilitate client access to additional resources.
- Represent Camillus House in collaborative efforts with community partners, fostering strong relationships and advocating for the needs of clients.
- Works outside of regularly scheduled hours during times of inclement weather (hurricanes, cold weather, and heat advisories) as part of the County's Emergency Response Plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
