About the Role

Are you a driven leader with a passion for guiding teams to develop innovative software solutions? We're seeking a Software Engineer Team Lead with TS/SCI clearance and polygraph to lead a team of talented developers in delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing applications. In this role, you'll blend technical expertise with leadership to design, build, and maintain complex software systems while mentoring and inspiring a high-performing team.

In this role, you will:
  • You'll leverage your expertise in software development, cloud engineering, and agile practices to oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet or exceed quality expectations.
  • By applying your knowledge of modern programming languages, frameworks, and tools-such as C#, Python, React, Git, and Docker-you'll drive the creation of resilient applications and microservices that support critical organizational needs.
  • You'll Lead and Mentor a Software Engineering Team - providing technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to a team of developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • You'll also work closely with stakeholders to define requirements, manage risks, and prioritize tasks to align with mission objectives.
  • You will facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration - working closely with systems engineers, database administrators, and other technical teams to ensure seamless integration across platforms.
  • You will support Legacy and Modern Systems to maintain and enhance existing software systems while driving the adoption of next-generation technologies and architectures.
  • You'll design and implement software systems that support critical mission objectives and operational functions, contributing to the organization's success.

You might thrive in this role if you:
  • Possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • Proven Leadership in Software Development: Experience leading and mentoring development teams, driving technical excellence, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Expertise in Full-Stack Development: Proficiency in modern programming languages like C#, Python, and JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Cloud Engineering Experience: Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing applications in cloud environments such as AWS.
  • Strong Knowledge of Development Tools: Familiarity with Git, GitLab, Docker and CI/CD pipelines to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and support continuous integration and delivery of web applications and microservices.
  • Secure Software Development Practices: Deep understanding of security principles and best practices for handling sensitive data and building secure applications.
  • Database Management Skills: Experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and other relational database systems, including scripting in PL/SQL.
  • Web Application Development Expertise: Proficiency in building and maintaining web applications using HTML5, CSS frameworks like Bootstrap or Tailwind, and modern JavaScript libraries.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and gather requirements effectively.

You will excel in this role if you have also these skills:
  • Additional experience with legacy systems, IT program management, or specialized tools like Lotus Notes development and certificate management.
  • The ideal candidate will be based in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC area
