Summary of Position
The Clinical Staff Educator and Occupational Health Nurse Manager is a key member of the clinical team responsible for clinical staff education and development. The position works in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer and Nurse Managers in the planning, developing, coordinating, facilitating, and teaching the organizational educational programs. Assists with the coordination of annual education: employee health, risk management, patient safety, and infection control in compliance with Federal, State, and local regulatory rules. The Nurse Educator fosters knowledge expansion and professional growth of a staff through the delivery of evidenced based nursing practice.
The Clinical Staff Educator and Occupational Health Nurse Manager is responsible for providing occupational health services to the employee population as indicated by policies and procedures, assessment, planning intervention and evaluation of care provided. Serves as a medical care manager of worker's compensation cases.

Population Served
Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center will provide open access, community-oriented primary care of the highest quality to all residents, migrants and seasonal farmworkers, as well as, visitors of Hertford, Bertie, Northampton, Gates, Washington and surrounding counties, regardless of their ability to pay.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or current matriculation in an accredited BSN program required
Experience: Three to Five years nursing experience in primary care or public health preferred. Nurse management and occupational health experience preferred.
Certification(s)/Licensure: Current license as a RN in state of North Carolina required. BLS certification required.

- Knowledge of CDC and OSHA guidelines related to employee health and transmission-based precaution
- Knowledge of best practices in basic infection control
- Must be able to speak and communicate clearly and effectively

- Ability to interpret communication between patient and provider following RCCHC policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Primary coordinator for all organizational-wide educational initiatives which impact nursing to include new and changing products; equipment, and practice; and serve as the coordinator of newly hired experienced and transferring nurses transition into practice beyond the orientation period.
- Provides and coordinates orientation, in-service education, continuing education, patient safety and education in the clinical setting for clinical staff personnel in keeping with individual needs, departmental needs, regulatory and agency requirements
- Provide or manage the required physical evaluation programs and services to meet regulatory requirement; such as OSHA, CDC, HRSA etc.
- Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and workers' compensation laws
- Help navigate workers compensation regulations
- Work with the Chief Medical Officer for cases requiring medical recommendations
- Coordinates staff orientation and ancillary clinical staff orientation in collaboration with Human Resources
- Reviews annually and updates orientation skills checklist in conjunction with the Nurse Managers and Departmental Managers as required by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
- Coordinates Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS for clinic staff to promote professional growth of employees in the clinical service's areas
- In collaboration with Human Resources, maintains immunization, and educational records; ensure that all necessary documentation of clinical education is provided for filing in employment files to support credentialing requirements.
- Assists clinical staff to acquire, maintain, and/or expand competence in clinical procedures, equipment operation, patient education, and/or documentation
- Verify onboarding requirements and verify and maintain accurate personal medical records
- Reviews new employee immunization records and coordinates vaccine administration
- Serves as employee health nurse and delivers employee health program in accordance with RCCHC's policy and regulatory expectations
- Utilizes evidence to support change and educates others toward a culture of evidence based practice
- Maintains program documentation and records/files in accordance with organization policy and regulatory expectations
- Coordinate the care of ill and injured workers, including return to work assessment and fit for duty evaluation
- Attain/maintain current knowledge of the site risks/hazards including chemical, biological, and physical and participate in reviews and overall risk assessment
- Interpret and evaluate health data and screening tests to determine current health status, vaccinations and exposure to communicable diseases
- Triages injuries and connects employees with providers as needed
- Recognizes and reacts appropriately to potential occupational emergency situations
