INTRODUCTION
Under the supervision of the VP of Grants, the Director of Grants Management is directly responsible for administrative oversight of public, local/state privately funded programs for Unity Health Care. The Director ensures the department maintains compliance with grant and/or contract requirements and provides timely reporting. The Director of Grants Management also supports the organization by ensuring the department develops effective programs that further Unity Health Care's mission, vision, and values.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
This position reports to the VP of Programs and Informatics. No supervisory roles.

The position abides by all rules and regulations set forth by applicable licensing and regulatory bodies and UHC policies and procedures.
PERSONAL CONTACTS
The position requires contact with staff at all levels throughout the organization. This individual's work may also involve external organization relationships.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
RISKS
The position involves everyday risk and discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings, training rooms, and other UHC health Care Sites. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. All medical services shall be provided according to medically accepted community standards of care. The employee shall provide evidence of a recent (within the past twelve (12) months) health assessment that includes a PPD and/or chest x-ray results.

The Director of Grants Management also supports the organization by ensuring the department develops effective programs that further Unity Health Care's mission, vision, and values.
MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee and seek to improve the process and workflow for seeking and managing grants, from prospecting through grant closeout, to increase efficiency.
- Write and/or manage the application process for Federal, local government, and private grant applications and contract responses to support Unity's Mission, Visions, and Values and ensure the timely and accurate submission of such applications.
- With the direction of the VP of Grants, directs ongoing prospecting in collaboration with the development team and organization leadership to support organizational priorities and makes recommendations for those opportunities.
- Collaborate with program leadership to foster a highly collaborative, positive, and productive culture in the planning, design, and development of programs.
- Collaborate with program leadership, using an interdisciplinary approach to improve health outcomes for District residents.
- Responsible for the oversight of work plan implementation across program areas, monitoring activities and progress toward grant/contract targets and goals.
- Works collaboratively with the Data Analytics Manager to ensure standardized and timely data reporting for all program areas.
- Ensures program evaluations are based on the quadruple aim (cost, quality, patient experience, employee experience).
- Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the finance department to support budget monitoring and spending and ensure the financial compliance of funded programs.
- Partner with the VP of Grants to identify compliance risks and develop organization-defined best practices for proposal development, due diligence, contracting, and reporting.
- Coordinates site visits and reviews conducted by funding agencies in collaboration with the VP of grants
- Manages the ongoing use and improvement of the grants management system.
- Manage a grant portfolio.
- Serves on designated internal committees or workgroups to support the effective program design and the integration of funded programs within Unity operations.
- Collaborate with the VP of Grants to coach, mentor, and support other grants team members, fostering professional development and ensuring effective teamwork in pursuit of organizational goals.
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Grants on special projects, taking a lead role in strategic initiatives that extend beyond the scope of program management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the successful execution of high-priority efforts.
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in public health; health care administration or suitable field or related field required or the equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and/or experience that provides the necessary expertise and knowledge to perform the essential functions.
- Five (5) years of grant/contract writing and management experience, significant plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Experience writing successful grant proposals and developing grant budgets either individually or on a team
- Ability to manage competing demands, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Experience effectively managing staff and leading teams in a collaborative environment.
- Process-oriented and results-driven
- Proven problem-solving skills, flexibility in approach, and willingness to adapt when necessary.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local agencies related to grants and sponsored programs, including Uniform Guidance for federal funding.
- Attention to details
- Contracting experience, preferred
- Demonstrated experience in program/project management essential
- Sound judgment and maturity, exemplified by consistent professionalism in working with individuals at internal and external levels.

- The office environment may be stressful with multiple, time-sensitive tasks to be accomplished within a short period of time.
