The Role You Play
Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer, the Crisis Services Director is responsible for the efficient planning management, performance, oversight and delivery of Pawnee Mental Health Services' Crisis Services. This is a senior management position with a scope of responsibility for the delivery of high-quality care, clinical and operational decision making, regulatory compliance, quality and staff management of a large team in a fast-paced, 24/7 care environment.

The Role You Play
Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer, the Crisis Services Director is responsible for the efficient planning management, performance, oversight and delivery of Pawnee Mental Health Services' Crisis Services. This is a senior management position with a scope of responsibility for the delivery of high-quality care, clinical and operational decision making, regulatory compliance, quality and staff management of a large team in a fast-paced, 24/7 care environment.
- Essential Responsibilities
- Plan, develop and evaluate Pawnee's outpatient crisis program, mobile crisis and crisis stabilization unit (CSU) to ensure quality, efficiency and effectiveness
- Work with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Clinical Officer on planning, preparing and managing a budget that balances the needs of the crisis program, mobile crisis and the CSU.
- Develop, refine and review polices and procedures related to activities of crisis services, CSU and mobile crisis to be in compliance with required standards established by regulatory agencies and agency policy.
- Oversee service completion and staffing to appropriately balance quality client care and a business-minded approach.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of program and management activity records and reports as required by regulatory agencies and/or agency policy.
- Ensure timely completion and approval of service notes and documentation across all the service lines of the Crisis Department including CSU, Outpatient Crisis Services and Mobile Crisis Services.
- Oversee progress of all Crisis Services Mangers/Supervisors in assisting staff with meeting established client care expectations and documentation expectations and take appropriate action to ensure compliance as necessary.
- Ensure timely and effective billing of services across all the service lines of the Crisis Department including CSU, Outpatient Crisis Services and Mobile Crisis Services.
- Follow and implement state and federal guidelines and guidance in respect to program billing, revenue maximization and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee and participate in the development of specialized clinical services offered through all programs under the Crisis Department.
- Work cooperatively with administrative program directors and their staff in managing all programs under the crisis program.
- Work cooperatively with clinical program directors and their staff to ensure the efficient and effective coordination of services.
- Serve as liaison with state and local mental health, health care and social services organizations related to crisis services.
- Develop, monitor and review strategic plans for all aspects of the crisis services program based upon community and client needs, within regulatory standards, and work toward their completion.
- Develop and monitor outcome measures for the crisis services program and clients.
- Hire, supervise and evaluate qualified staff and ensure they are trained to meet the needs of the outpatient crisis Services program, mobile crisis, as well as the CSU. Document employee concerns in a timely manner and provide feedback as necessary.
- Advise, consult and serve as a member of the management team in the development and execution of short term and long-range plans based on agency goals, strategic planning and growth objectives.
- Actively participate in meetings, committees and work groups as required, delegating appropriate staff to attend in place of crisis director as applicable.
- Monitor and assist as needed in audits or reviews performed internally and by outside agencies.
- Perform direct services through participation with clients in crisis and aftercare crisis management when needed.
- Monitor compliance with the Crisis Plan and interact with regional and state DCF offices, Medicaid intermediaries, private and state hospitals as needed.
Who You Are

- Required
- A Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or a closely related field. The education degree shall be from an accredited institutional setting.
- Licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board of the State of Kansas and meet the statutory definition of Qualified Mental Health Professional with an unencumbered license as a LSCSW, LCPC, LCMFT
- Five years of direct experience working in the behavioral health care field with a track-record of management experience in a psychiatric hospital environment, outpatient/inpatient crisis services, PRTF, CIC or SIA.
- 3+ years management or supervisory experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
- Basic personal computer skills and prior experience in using electronic health records
- Preferred
- Demonstrated progressive experience in crisis services.
- Experience managing in a hospital environment or managing psychiatric inpatient care.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Software.
