Responsibilities

Canyon Ridge Hospital is a leading Behavioral Health Facility located in Chino California. The hospital is part of the Universal Health Services Network of Behavioral health facilities. Our Mission is, "To be a leader in behavioral healthcare, dedicated to excellent service in the community."

Directs and supervises the Health Information Department. Provides medical record expertise where needed to administration, the medical and professional staff, associate's, customers, and external agencies. Oversees the HIPAA Privacy compliance program. Provides training to staff. Makes recommendations to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline employees for whom he/she are responsible for. Proficient in ICD-10-CM coding, knowledgeable of general medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and psychiatric terms and diagnosis. Calculation of deficiency rate & reporting for hospital statistics as required for The Joint Commission and hospital standards. Ensures that medical records and related health information are collected, analyzed and maintained securely and in the best interests of the patient and the hospital.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Administration from an accredited school or Associate of Science degree in Medical Record/Health Information technology. Familiarity with regulations and requirements of The Joint Commission, Title 22, and Medicare. Must have the ability to develop criteria based reports and policies; possess excellent written and verbal skills; be assertive yet professional with interpersonal skills for internal and external relations; have great organizational and time management skills

Experience:

RHIA or RHIT with two years' experience in medical records psychiatric setting and a minimum of five years supervisory experience in a hospital setting, experience in a Psychiatric/Chemical Dependency environment preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of medical record processes and systems. Ability to remain current on external regulatory requirements including the CMS and Joint Commission standards. Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to relate to physicians, senior management, and other professional staff. Able to organize projects and work assignments and apply good management techniques while supervising staff.
