HR Operations & EHS Compliance Specialist

OVERALL FUNCTION

Under the guidance of the Vice President of Human Resources and working closely with the Director of Facilities, the HR Operations & EHS Compliance Specialist manages a broad range of HR operations, compliance, and safety programs. This is a full-time exempt, on-site position, earning $94,661.32 - $169,514.54/annually.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Acts as a strategic thought partner and compliance manager for an array of local/state/federal workplace laws, including but not limited to general employment, COVID-19, EH&S and Injury Illness and Prevention Plan, Workplace Violence Prevention Plan, City of Berkeley Fair Workweek and onsite operations.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on fast-changing local, state and federal workplace compliance, designing systems and training to help managers and employees navigate and comply with changes.
  • Works closely with HR and facilities to create and manage workplace operations policies, systems, trainings, and procedures.
  • Stays informed about workplace laws, regulations, and developments in the field of employment and EH&S to ensure the organization's practices remain compliant and effective.
  • Collaborates with HR, facilities, and legal to ensure that the organization's actions align with workplace safety and complex labor laws.
  • Collaborates with leadership team and employees to cultivate a genuine culture of compliance, safety awareness and responsibility across the organization.
  • Develops communications that are clear and engaging with optimal use of platforms (email, intranet, in-person events).


REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years of relevant HR operations and EH&S experience.
  • Progressive experience in compliance leadership roles in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations.
  • A high degree of judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and interpret complex regulatory information, translating it into accessible and practical communication and systems.
  • Professional certification in EH&S and/or HR preferred.
