TITLE: Elementary School Principal- Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School
REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools or designee
SUPERVISES: Personnel serving in assigned school in such a way as to promote the maximum educational development of each student.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month administrative position. Other terms as set by the Board of Education in accordance with the New London Administrators' Education Association contract.

LEADERSHIP IN A TURNAROUND DISTRICT:
The New London Public School District believes that positive change is possible when five core strategies for school improvement are implemented together as a comprehensive package.
These strategies include:
  • Ensuring every student has excellent teachers and a school leader committed to their success.
  • Setting clear, consistent standards for academic achievement and establishing a school-wide focus on preparing all students for college and career.
  • Increasing instructional time.
  • Providing small group, differentiated instruction to students, daily, using highly qualified and well-trained instructors; and
  • Collecting assessment data frequently to monitor each student's academic progress and tailoring instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • PRIMARY FUNCTION:
    The NHAMS Principal will direct and supervise school operations in accordance with the policies and regulations established by the Board of Education. They shall exercise bold leadership in creating and managing a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment where all students excel, staff are empowered, and all are held accountable. The principal will create an engaged community of staff, students, families, and community partners who share the vision of high performance and achievement-oriented collaboration. They will facilitate work, leading to an increase in student outcomes and creation of a united, positive culture of achievement.
