Nestled on the Central California Coast, Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. POSITION SUMMARY:
This a union-based role represented by CNA. Provides nursing care to patients receiving endoscopic and other specialized procedures by utilizing the nursing process. Duties to include but not limited to: assisting physicians with procedures, performing admission assessments, providing minimal/moderate sedation and ongoing assessment/monitoring during intra/post-op phases, post-procedure recovery, discharge responsibilities, supervision of non-licensed personnel, maintaining competencies by participating in ongoing training and continuing education, knowledge/care/handling/processing and ability to troubleshoot endoscopy procedural equipment, scope cleaning, equipment transportation and maintenance, meeting the scheduling demands of the Endoscopy Specialty by participating in on-call rotation weekdays/weekends/holidays and extended daily work hours as needed. This position requires flexible/rotating shifts. Collaborates with team to provide an efficient, safe, compassionate, individualized goal-directed nursing plan of care. Monitor patient during procedure with recognition of alteration in physiological and psychological status of patient. Recovery of patient post sedation. Knowledge of post procedure complications and discharge criteria. Ability to provide patient clear and concise follow up instructions at time of discharge. Demonstrates understanding and interpretation of diagnostic measures such as lab tests, radiology exams, and EKG interpretation. Utilizes professional nursing judgment, takes action to implement the nursing care plan and resolve the problems identified for the individual patient. Knowledgeable about equipment and supplies used for procedures, including proper cleaning and handling. Practices infection control techniques.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent: Required
- Associate's Degree: Required
- Bachelor's Degree: Preferred
- Recent GI experience: Required
- 1-year acute care experience: Required
- Basic skillset in endoscopy, specifically competence with endoscopic biopsy, endoscopic mucosal injection, endoscopic polypectomy, and different hemostasis techniques: Required
- Experience with ERCP as well as competence with cannulation, guidewire usage, and knowledge of different biliary devices: Required
- Ability to administer minimal/ moderate sedation: Required
- Experience with Bronchoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) procedures: Preferred
Licenses and Certifications:
- CGRN Certification: Preferred
