WORK SCHEDULE

    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Responsible for planning, implementing, and operational oversight for all activities for both Patient Services and Retail operations on both University of Washington Medical Centers Montlake and Northwest
  • Provide direct oversight over both kitchens' daily operations and conduct workflows, manage purchasing functions and vendor relationships
  • Directs the business, technical and support activities for the food service aspected of the FNS department
  • Oversees adminstrative functions of the FNS department including safety, quality, operations, marketing, facilities, finance, capital purchases, human resources and planning and development
  • Will take a leadership role in planning a massive $95 million dollar renovation

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides leadership and direction in accordance with organizational goals, objectives and initiatives and in a fashion that supports further integration and standardization across both UWMC campuses
  • Develops and implements business plans/initiatives to enhance departmental operations and performance goals.
  • Collects, analyzes and maintains data pertinent to departmental operating and planning discussions and benchmarking purposes and contributes to long and short term strategic planning and departmental operations improvement
  • Actively participates in extensive construction planning, equipment installation and renovation projects.
  • Demonstrates a focus on integration and alignment of operations and functions across the department at both campuses
  • Coordinates with department leaders of key stakeholder partners (such as IT, EVS, O&M, Nursing, Supply Chain) to achieve integrated departmental operations across both siteswhile mobilizing managers and supervisors to support these efforts.
  • Monitors utilization of equipment and supplies; oversees supply ordering program
  • Responsible for vendor selection and relationship maintenance through consistent partnership conversations to benefit UWMC's financial and service goals
  • Monitors revenues, expenses and provides appropriate reports to review with the department Director as well as the managers, supervisors and other key stakeholders and collaborates with the Director to plan and implement interventions to address areas not meeting goals or expectations
  • Manages demand and volume to meet budgeted volume projections in collaboration with leadership. Takes corrective action if indicated.
  • Provides oversight of hiring, completion of regular performance evaluations, performance improvement, counseling employees, developing staff and, as appropriate, utilizing the disciplinary process and recommending termination of staff
  • Directly supervises 6 managers. Completes annual evaluations, monthly rounding, staff development and corrective action as appropriate.
  • Ensures that FNS maintains a continual state of survey readiness by meeting or exceeding all regulatory standards (DOH, WA State Food Code, ServSafe guidelines, Joint Commission.
    REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Culinary Certification and 10+ years of kitchen leadership experience
  • Prior demonstrated experience in kitchen design, planning, construction, equipment selection, vendor management, and operational workflow efficiencies
