The Pension and Endowments Department (PEN), which is part of theTreasury Vice Presidency, is responsible for the financial management andadministration of the World Bank Group's funded benefit plans, including theretirement scheme - the Staff Retirement Plan, the retiree medical and lifeinsurance programs - the Retired Staff Benefits Plan, and other ancillarybenefits (the Plans). The PensionFinance Committee, appointed by the Bank Group President and chaired by theChief Financial Officer, has oversight responsibility for the financialmanagement of the plans.
ThePension Investments (PENIN) team is responsible for the investment managementof the pension plan assets. The key responsibilities include developing theinvestment strategy, outlined in the policy framework and strategic assetallocation and approved by the PFC, and executing the investment strategythrough external fund management, ensuring the integration of Environmental,Social, and Governance (ESG) factors. PENIN manages approximately US$40 billionacross various asset classes such as fixed income, public equities, privateequity, real assets, private credit, and absolute return strategies.
Staff in PENIN are allocated to a particular team upon entry. Theymay be reassigned to other PENIN teams at the discretion of the Manager ofPENIN in response to business priorities. This SeniorInvestment Officer position is intended for PENIN's Investments Capabilitiesfunction.

Roles & Responsibility:

The Team Lead for the Investment Capabilities teamwill manage a team supporting PENIN's investment functions. The Team Lead willwork closely with the PENIN Manager and liaise with the PENIN Team Leads andother units such as ITS, LEGFI, and PENMO.
The main responsibilities of the Team Lead include:

1. Investments processes:
*Lead the team of junior staff who provide logistical support to the investment teams, including document management and other communication with asset managers, supporting meeting and travel schedules, and other outreach activities as appropriate.
*Coordinate support for the investment process, including scheduling the Investment Committee and Annual Investment Strategy meetings.
*Coordinate the documentation and updates of investment processes and procedures.
*Coordinate and monitor investment and legal investment pipelines and timely completion/execution of legal documents in collaboration with LEGFI and the portfolio teams.
*Coordinate the execution and archival of all legal documentation.
*Oversee budget planning and oversight of the contractual agreements with third-party providers supporting the team's activities.
*Support initiatives to optimize investment-related activities to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

2. Implement measures to reduce operational risk and enhance business continuity.
*Be the point person for the team in its interactions with LEGFI and PENMO.
*Implementation of investment decision-support solutions:
*Coordinate technology solutions and projects that support PENIN's core investment and portfolio monitoring processes.
*Enhance data-driven decision-making processes through effective use of technology and data analytics.
*Lead initiatives aimed at modernizing technology to enhance investment capabilities functions.
*Overall, the Team Lead will play a crucial role inensuring the smooth functioning of the Investment Capabilities team andsupporting PENIN's investment functions.

Selection Criteria

*Advanced degree in a relevant field, preferably finance, business, economics, IT, MIS, or computer science.
*At least eight years of relevant work experience in finance and investments, with at least two to three years of investment management-related experience or an appropriate combination of education and relevant experience.
*Professional Certification such as a CFA and/or CAIA is a plus.
*Experience working with investment teams, understanding investment and legal review processes.
*Experience with financial and investment technology solutions, including AI/Machine Learning, databases, and vendors. Familiarity with other quantitative analytical packages is desirable.
*Demonstrated project management experience, ability to scope the user case, and identify the best technology solutions to fit the purpose.
*Strong knowledge and understanding of the Bank's core systems and processes (including SAP).
*Strong knowledge of the Bank's policies, procedures, and practices, including a good understanding of those related to Pension Investments.
*Creative thinker and quick learner with initiative, drive, and attention to detail.
*Proven capacity to multi-task, deliver results, and respond quickly and effectively to requests. Ability to work under pressure and resolve conflicts.
*Excellent communication - both verbal and written skills are required. Experience in giving presentations and training is desirable.
*Good team player with strong interpersonal skills and commitment to work in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment.
