Burke Rehabilitation Hospital offers acute inpatient rehabilitation in a 150-bed hospital, as well as comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation services, and houses multiple programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), including inpatient brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke. We are located in the beautiful Westchester County, a suburb of NYC. Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is member of the Montefiore Medical System serving the greater metropolitan area, the Hudson Valley and beyond. The Rehabilitation Psychology and Neuropsychology division is integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment teams of our acute inpatient hospital and within our outpatient faculty practice.
We are pleased to announce the recruitment of a full-time rehabilitation psychologist, health psychologist or rehabilitation neuropsychologist to staff a position on Burke Hospital's White Plains campus. The psychologist will see patients within our inpatient and outpatient services, providing evaluation and treatment of a demographically and diagnostically diverse population of adults, including those recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurodegenerative diseases, movement disorders, transplants, orthopedic and cardiopulmonary conditions.
The psychologist's primary responsibilities will include brief neuropsychological and neurocognitive assessments, provision of psychotherapeutic interventions for adjustment disorder and other psychiatric conditions, risk assessments, and behavioral consultation as requested by the interdisciplinary teams, offering patient and family education regarding diagnoses and associated sequelae, and performing capacity evaluations. The psychologist will also be responsible for training and supervision of psychology externs and interns, as well as occasional participation in Graduate Medical Education (GME) of physiatry residents and brain injury fellows. Participation in our psychology/neuropsychology practicum is expected. The position offers the opportunity for a faculty appointment within the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

- Strong candidates will have training and prior experience working with medically complex patients in a healthcare setting as well as a deep understanding of co-occurring psychological and neuro-behavioral difficulties.
- Must possess a valid NYS license.
- Completion of an APA-accredited internship is required.
- Completion of post-doctoral fellowship is required.
- Experience with cognitive remediation is desired.
- While not a primary expectation of the role, experience with and interest in comprehensive neuropsychological assessment is preferred.
- Bilingual candidates, particularly Spanish speakers, are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Preference will be given to board certified or board-eligible psychologists.
