Position Summary:

The Cyber Security Project Lead at George BrownCollege plays a crucial role in steering the institution's Cyber Securityinitiatives in alignment with its strategic objectives and compliancestandards. This position embodies a unique intersection of technical expertisein Cyber Security, adeptness in project management, and the ability tofacilitate interdisciplinary collaboration. The primary focus of this role isto lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Cyber Security projects,ensuring they are completed within scope, time, and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize project management methodologies to develop comprehensive project plans for Cyber Security initiatives. This includes defining project objectives, scope, deliverables, and work breakdown structures. The Project leader will establish detailed schedules and timelines, allocate resources effectively, and manage the project budget, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the college.
  • Implement continuous monitoring and control processes to track project progress against the baseline plan. Utilize project management tools and techniques to identify variances and take corrective actions as needed. Regularly report to senior management and stakeholders on project status, milestones achieved, and potential risks or issues.
  • Engage and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including ITS teams, external vendors, academic departments, and other educational institutions. Ensure stakeholder expectations are managed through effective communication strategies, and their needs and concerns are integrated into project planning and execution.
  • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives or committees as needed. This may involve contributing to projects or discussions that are not strictly within the realm of Cyber Security but where this expertise is beneficial.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in Cyber Security, including emerging threats, trends, and best practices. Utilize this knowledge to inform project plans, strategies, and decisions. Share insights and updates with the team and stakeholders to foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptation.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Educational andExperience Requirements:
  • Four-year degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Cyber Security, Information Technology (IT), Project Management.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CAPM, Project+, Prince2, CISA, CRISC, CISM, CISSP, or equivalent experience are assets.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience working in Cyber Security or IT project management, ideally in higher education.

  • Excellent organizational, coordination, scheduling, tracking, time management, and presentation skills.
  • Solid project management, stakeholder management, and risk management skills.
  • Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, and teamwork skills at a professional level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.
  • Able to be on-site weekly and travel to industry or educational conferences as needed.
  • Strong relationship management skills and excellent communication abilities, capable of effectively discussing complex Cyber Security concepts and coordinating across various departments with technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.


Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
