Description:
Responsible for the accounting operation, including financial reporting and budgeting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall operation of accounting, including financial reports and budget
Comply with company policies and procedures
Performance analysis of operations that drive growth, strategy and profitability initiatives
Development of system controls to ensure data integrity
Ensure compliance with federal and state laws
Oversight, management, and evaluation of accounting staff. Assure that accounting personnel are properly trained, motivated, and directed to fulfill their responsibilities.
Directly Supervise Assistant Controller and Accounts Payable
Review ADP payroll registers and recording general ledger entries
Additional duties as assigned by management
Direct company's annual audit
Oversee month end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation
General ledger detail review and proper creation of journal entries in a timely manner
Capital Expenditures (Fixed Assets)
Operating Leases
Spare Parts (Capital spares for R&M)
Review accounts payables and receivables for accuracy
Oversee and approve Expenses reports GL Coding
Raw and Finished Goods Physical inventory
Ensure Intercompany balances at month end
Financial plans and forecasts are developed and variances are analyzed against plans
Year-end reporting, preparing accruals and schedules, and submitting monthly and ad hoc financial reporting packages and Budgets
Daily/Monthly P&L (Financial reporting)
Operational/Financial analysis - Sales, Materials, Wages, Shipping, R&M, Overheads
Meet with GM and Staff regularly to maintain communication and build teamwork
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Undergraduate degree with focus on accounting and/or finance
Minimum of ten years managing financial/accounting department
Minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing related environment
Proven ability to analyze financial statements and identify potential problems
Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:
CPA and/or CMA
Experience in the paper industry
Good communication skills, SAP experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The candidate must speak and write English at a college level. Candidate should have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts, and government regulations. Candidate should also possess the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, customers, and the general public is a must.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, volume, and net present value. Ability to evaluate financial alternatives and recognize and interpret financial trends and performance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Computer literate (MS Office including Word and Excel - SAP experience a plus)
Proficient knowledge and application of accounting principles
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee is sometimes exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, along with hot and cold temperatures depending upon the season. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is not just an office job. Employee will be required to spend some time in manufacturing plant learning the process and observing/improving procedures as they relate to financial controls and procedures. Employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
