Summary:
The Project Superintendent oversees the on-site management of a construction project, coordinating with multiple contractors and ensuring the project adheres to schedule, budget, and design specifications. This position involves higher-level strategic planning and client interaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the total construction effort of the project to ensure it is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors, etc.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control) and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff.
  • Supervise craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract.
  • May authorize and/or approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc.
  • Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
  • Assist in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.
  • Ensure compliance of all onsite personnel with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc. Document all violations, notify project management, and recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
  • Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
  • Perform additional assignments per the supervisor's direction.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of employees in the field operations.

Requirements:

  • Overall knowledge and experience in managing large-scale construction projects.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple aspects of project management including material, labor, and time.
  • Willingness to travel as required.


Education and Experience:

  • Four-year engineering degree or equivalent technical training and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of ten years of construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.
  • Extensive knowledge of all construction disciplines (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, cost control schedules, and safety.
