Summary:
The Director of Facility Services directs, manages, and coordinates the daily operational functions for the Engineering department. Responsibilities include planning, directing and coordinating the activities of the Engineering, Bio-Medical, Security departments, and may include Environmental Services to provide services necessary to insure the safe and efficient operation of the hospital and associated campus buildings; to maintain a comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff in compliance with hospital polices and local, state and federal rules and regulations. The Director of Plant Operations also serves as Construction Project Manager for the Owner in all facility construction projects, responsible for Architect & Contractor relations, timely completion of projects, project budget control, safety and infection control issues during construction projects, commissioning, coordination with State and local authorities having jurisdiction, construction reporting and record keeping.

Essential duties include the following:
Develops, evaluates and implements departmental policies and procedures.
Develops and tracks goals and objectives for Engineering.
Develops and evaluates the preventive maintenance program.
Develops and evaluates the department educational program and orientation training.
Coordinates renovation and construction activities.
Assures compliance with the life safety code and the standard building code.
Conducts employee performance reviews, new hire interviews, and disciplinary counseling sessions.
Evaluates workmanship for department staff and for service vendors.
Develops annual operating budget for Engineering.
Makes themselves available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week for emergency response call and reporting unless properly relieved.
Responsible for the maintenance of buildings, systems and grounds for all Medical Office Buildings owned and operated by Blue Ridge Property Management and controls operational expenditures for each within budget guidelines.
Assist with the preparation of operational maintenance budgets for Medical Office Buildings.

Facility > 151 Beds.
It is vital that an individual in this position be capable of good communication skills. It is of the utmost importance that written communication is legible.

Ballad expects all team members to support the Value Optimization System (VOS) initiative by demonstrating awareness of the VOS system and effectively applying it to his/her work.

Job duties of this position may require access to protected patient information (PHI). The team member will be accountable for appropriate use of the record and compliance with all confidentiality and security policy and procedures related to use, access, and disclosure of PHI.

Requirements:
Bachelor degree in engineering or related field required with Five years experience in related field. May consider Associate degree in engineering with 7.5 years progressive leadership experience in field. Must have good time management skills, basic computer skills , typing skills and word processing skills. Must be able to communicate effectively using oral and written communications.
