Director, Donor Relations and Stewardship - District Office

FUNCTION: The Director, Donor Relations and Stewardship provides leadership, vision and strategic planning for donor stewardship initiatives by building a comprehensive donor recognition program to strengthen existing donor commitment to the College and forge new relationships to build visibility, impact and financial resources. This position will plan and execute stewardship and cultivation strategic initiatives, donor outreach and communications, donor recognition, acknowledgements, and stewardship plan reports. This individual will serve as the liaison with the Executive Director regarding donor gifts and developing stewardship plans for top donors.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Manage all donor recognition and stewardship plans to communicate use of gift and gift impact by creating donor financial reports and program reports to report gift information back to donors.
  • Plan and responsible for the development and execution of constituent communications across all platforms, electronic, print and social media related to grants, scholarships, gift acknowledgement, stewardship and retention of donors. Work with Foundation, Marketing, and Public Relations staff to implement the plan.
  • Compile reports for annual spending from endowments, named scholarships, and other Foundation funds according to the Foundation Spending Policy to distribute account details to donors.
  • Create annual Foundation donor impact report and newsletter to communicate to current and prospective donors their philanthropic effect on the San Jacinto College community.
  • Create and disburse all annual donor tax receipts by January 31 each year.
  • Enhance customer service initiatives by identifying donor management process issues and provide input for process improvements.
  • Provide planning and oversight of an efficient scholarship awarding and managing process for the San Jacinto College Foundation. Work closely with the Coordinator, Scholarships and Stewardship.


Additional Job Functions:
  • Attend various College and campus meetings on behalf of the College Foundation.
  • Supervise manager of advancement services and coordinator, scholarships and stewardship.
  • Work with the Executive Director, College events planner, and Coordinator, Scholarships and Stewardship to oversee donor recognition events. The role of the manager is to provide oversite and help with decision making along with the Executive Director.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to maintain confidential information with discretion.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent follow through.
  • High level of accuracy.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with high degree of integrity.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business management or a related field.


Preferred Education:
  • Master's Degree


Required Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years experience preferably in higher education (or a comparably complex organization), in development, stewardship, marketing, advancement services or related field.


Preferred Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in a non profit or foundation environment with previous interacting with donors.
  • Previous experience interacting with donors is required.


Note: This position has limited opportunity for remote work arrangements with appropriate approvals and in accordance with the policies, procedures, and needs of the College.

Salary Grade: 201
