Summary:

The Director Engineering Facilities Repair provides leadership for the Engineering (Facilities Maintenance) Department and oversees all facility operations for the organization. This position provides a wide variety of engineering and maintenance functions that ensure a safe, comfortable and compliant environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities:

    • Adds value as a key member of management; understands the business, financials, industry, customers and strategy.
    • Ensure that facilities and facilities operations meet all life safety code and health care code requirements.
    • Develop, manage and monitor operating and capital budgets for Facilities.
    • Collaborates on activities with the Safety Manager and manages day to day operations of the ground keeping crew.
    • Also assist the Direction of planning, design and construction as needed.
    • Supervises employees, provides direction, coaches, trains, develops, and manages performance to company goals and expectations.
    • Assists in the oversite and management of projects to be performed by Facilities Maintenance and Construction Staff and external contractors within individual hospital departments.
    • Assist contractors with Engineering issues using architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing blueprints and drawings.
    • Plans, schedules, and communicates to hospital departments any utility shutdowns due to construction activity [e.g., electric, plumbing, HVAC].
    • Follows and enforces building codes, NFPA, environmental, and life safety regulations.
    • Follows and enforces Joint Commission and CMS regulations and leads efforts during onsite inspections of facilities.
    • Other duties as required.

    Technical Expertise

  • Experience with building codes, NFPA, environmental, and life safety regulations is required.
  • Experience in Joint Commission and CMS regulatory bodies is required.
  • Experience in building maintenance is required.
  • Excellent Leadership, communication and analytical skills required.
  • Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint] or similar software is required. High level of proficiency with CMMS software is required.

  • Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification: Professional engineer or architectural license is required.
  • Years of relevant experience: Minimum 10 years required.
  • Years of experience supervising: Minimum 5 years of management or oversight experience in plant operations
