Position Summary Details

The Senior Program Manager will take a leadership role in the planning, execution, and delivery of complex, high-impact programs that align with our strategic business goals. This role requires advanced program management skills, deep cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple, interdependent projects at a large scale. The Senior Program Manager will also mentor junior program and project managers, drive process improvements, and ensure that programs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Program Strategic Oversight & Leadership: Lead large-scale, cross-functional programs, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals and overseeing the program roadmap and deliverables.
    • Lead and drive end-to-end management of large-scale, cross-functional programs that significantly impact the organization's strategic goals.
    • Define the program's vision, objectives, success criteria, and deliverables in alignment with the company's business strategy.
    • Develop and own the program roadmap, ensuring that it is regularly updated to reflect changing priorities and business needs.
  • Risk assessment: Proactively identify program risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve roadblocks to ensure successful program delivery.
    • Proactively identify and manage program risks, dependencies, and issues that may impact timelines, costs, or outcomes.
    • Develop and implement mitigation strategies, using advanced problem-solving techniques to resolve roadblocks.
    • Ensure the program delivers value to the business, addressing potential challenges that arise in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Cross-functional integration & alignment: Manage relationships with senior executives and stakeholders, providing clear updates and resolving conflicts to ensure alignment and transparency.
    • Ensure seamless coordination between different teams and stakeholders involved in the program.
    • Lead efforts to identify and address interdependencies between projects, ensuring that all parts of the program are aligned and synchronized.
    • Influence and drive decisions across functional teams, navigating complex organizational structures and ensuring buy-in from diverse groups.
  • Governance & Process improvement: Establish governance frameworks and drive process improvements to ensure consistent, efficient program execution.
    • Establish and enforce governance frameworks, standards, and methodologies for program execution, ensuring alignment with the organization's best practices.
    • Continuously evaluate and refine program management processes to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and increase organizational maturity.
    • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, increase productivity, and deliver programs more effectively.
  • Performance metrics: Establish and track performance metrics, and analyze data to understand trends
    • Define and measure key program success metrics and KPIs, ensuring that objectives are achieved and delivering measurable value to the organization.
    • Conduct post-program evaluations to identify successes and areas for improvement, implementing lessons learned into future programs.
    • Drive transparency and accountability by establishing robust tracking and reporting mechanisms for program health.
  • Program financial management:
    • Own the program budget, ensuring that it is managed efficiently and that projects stay within scope and budget.
    • Forecast and track program financials, resource allocations, and performance metrics, ensuring proper budgetary alignment with organizational goals.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Experience:
    • At least 8+ years of experience in project management or program management
    • Proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional programs with significant organizational impact.
    • Expertise in multiple project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, etc.) and a deep understanding of program governance frameworks.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing large, diverse teams and influencing senior leadership.
    • Advanced strategic thinking and ability to align program execution with business goals.
    • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage multi-million-dollar budgets.
    • Excellent communication skills, both in presenting to executives and engaging with cross-functional teams.
    • High proficiency with program and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Asana, etc.).
    • Expertise in risk management, problem-solving, and navigating complex challenges.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or PgMP (Program Management Professional) certification.
    • Agile/Scrum certifications (e.g., ScrumMaster, SAFe Program Consultant) are a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term vision with short-term execution.
    • Highly collaborative, with an ability to navigate organizational complexity and build consensus.
    • Strong decision-making and conflict resolution skills in high-pressure environments.
    • Results-driven with a focus on delivering value and driving business outcomes.


Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not have any direct reports and is a single contributor role.

Working Environment and Travel Requirements
  • Work is typically in a normal office administrative environment involving minimal exposure to physical risks.
  • Position requires little to moderate physical activity. Mostly sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. No significant stooping is usually required.
