Role:

We are seeking an innovative and forward-thinking Solutions Architect to join our technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative payment solutions utilizing our core card processing system's existing functionality, driving system configurations, and Mercury Financial defined development projects when required that optimize our internal systems for efficiency, security, and scalability. You will work with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders, to create advanced, future-proof payment solutions that support the evolving needs of the business.

What a day is like:
  • Development & Implementation
  • Solution Design & Architecture: Design and architect scalable, secure, and high-performance credit card payment processing systems, integrating modern technologies and industry best practices.
  • Innovation & Strategy: Stay up to date with emerging trends in payment technologies, payment security (PCI-DSS compliance, tokenization, encryption), and industry regulations (EMV, PSD2). Continuously recommend innovative improvements to payment solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with business analysts, development teams, operations, and compliance to ensure the solution meets business requirements, technical specifications, and regulatory standards.
  • Customization & Integration: Develop strategies for integrating payment gateways, fraud detection systems, and other third-party services into the broader payment ecosystem. Customize solutions to meet the needs of different industries or business models.
  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to development teams in the implementation of complex credit card processing solutions.
  • Optimization & Scalability: Focus on performance optimization, scalability, and the ability to manage high transaction volumes seamlessly. Ensure robust disaster recovery, redundancy, and high availability in the system architecture.
  • Documentation & Training: Create detailed technical documentation and training materials. Provide support and training to internal teams and clients, as necessary.


Issue Support
  • Conducts research to identify and resolve system issues. Conducts knowledge transfer for resolving issues in accordance with stated processes. Assigned as contact with the outside vendors to resolve issue or propose definition of problem for subsequent action.
  • Participates in calls with technical, account management, vendors in resolution of issue. Provides business with updates for issue tracking systems, while keeping the management informed.
  • Builds relationships through accurate and timely communication. Establishes credibility through knowledge of systems and product functionality. Understands business needs and objectives and identifies opportunities to promote new products and services.
  • Interprets basic technical issues and project requests. Assists in determining root cause analysis and identifying technical changes needed. Translates for internal teams and stakeholders.


You're perfect for this role if you have:
    • 7-10 years of experience in payment processing or financial technology solutions, with a proven history in architecting and implementing credit card payment systems
    • Deep understanding of credit card payment technologies, including tokenization, EMV, payment gateways, and merchant services
    • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed computing
    • Strong knowledge of payment processing standards and protocols
    • Familiarity with software development languages (Java, Python, SQL) and architectural patterns (microservices, API-driven)
    • Experience with payment integrations, including mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay) and other modern payment methods (QR code, NFC)
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills
    • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Leadership abilities with a history of guiding teams through complex, large-scale projects
    • TSYS - TS2 Consumer Processing Platform and ancillary products and systems such as Quick Remit Payment Processing and TSYS Loyalty Platform (preferred).
