Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of 15-17 cases with minimal supervision.
• All aspects of litigation, including defense strategy development, written discovery, drafting and arguing motions, taking, and defending depositions, trial preparation and trial
• Work collaboratively with partners, other associates to develop appropriate legal strategies
• Provide direction to supporting legal assistants, law clerks and paralegals
• Conduct depositions, especially involving healthcare professionals.
• Draft motions (including motions for summary judgment)
• Collaborate on mediations and prepare for trials.
• Handle 160 billable hours/month (1,920 annually).
• Work Setup: in-office (5 days in-office, and open to going to trial as needed).

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• At least 2 years of experience in general liability, with a specific focus on medical malpractice.
• Experience in preparing pleadings, conducting depositions, and motion practice.
• Ability to efficiently analyze issues and communicate regularly with claims professionals.
• Must have experience working in a law firm environment.
