The AFRL Materials and Manufacturing Directorate seeks to hire a motivated and experienced scientist or engineer to serve as the Operational Energy Working Group Lead in AFRL/RXMZ.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:

Required Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that equips the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Desired Qualifications
This position will be filled at the DR-2 (GS-12/13 equivalent) or DR-3 (GS-14 equivalent) level. Candidates with at least one (1) year of applicable experience at the next lower grade DR-1, or equivalent in other pay systems will be considered. This position may be filled as a 5-year Flexible Length Renewable Technical Term Appointment (new government hires, current government term employees, etc.) with the option to later extend or convert to a permanent appointment.

The AFRL Materials and Manufacturing Directorate seeks to hire a motivated and experienced scientist or engineer to serve as the Operational Energy Working Group Lead in AFRL/RXMZ.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Leading the Operational Energy Working Group in planning, coordinating, and executing Operational Energy Science and Technology to create an energy-optimized Air Force that maximizes combat capability for the warfighter
- Directing the development of near-/mid-/far-term plans identifying technology areas for S&T and RDT&E to provide solutions aligned to DAF Operational Energy priorities and Operational Imperatives
- Providing thought leadership and subject matter expertise regarding technology roadmap development and implementation for weapon system Program Offices, PEOs, and MAJCOM
- Overseeing and providing subject matter expertise on the implementation of model-based systems engineering, digital material management, and agile program management to accelerate science & technology (S&T) evaluation and the adoption and transition of technologies, including the required test planning, test documentation, and approval processes
- Arranging test assets and range availability with MAJCOMs and DAF test organizations for flight tests
- Guiding and mentoring AFRL/RXMZ members assigned to the Operational Energy Working Group
- Facilitating interactions with industrial, international, and academic communities as well as other US Government agencies on matters pertaining to new technologies and their applications
- Travel of approximately 30% of time may be required

Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree, in a relevant technical field, from an accredited (or ABET accredited for engineering) academic institution.
- Applicants must currently hold, or have the ability to obtain, a Secret clearance.
- Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent in other pay systems.

Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (science or engineering) from an accredited academic university.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in Aerospace Systems and Digital Materiel Management
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience working in a DAF weapon system Program Office or PEO
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops with multiple stakeholders to align incentives and build consensus
- Ability to perform regular TDY travel
- Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills for technical and senior leader audiences
- Excellent understanding of DAF Corporate structure
