Product Development Scientist IV

Promerus is involved in the development of a novel platform of polymers based on cyclic olefins that are polymerized using a propriety class of organometallic catalysts. General Purpose:

Product Development: Leads/contributes to multi-functional projects including directing/coordinating activities of indirect reports. Independently manages projects, establishes goals/milestones, determines resource requirements, schedules activities, and coordinates activities to achieve customer requirements. Explores new technologies relevant to the company's goals and interests.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities that are requirements in order to perform the job:

• General:
• Demonstrates creativity in solving problems and resolves anticipated issues before they arise
• Establishes an area of expertise and shares with others to benefit the organization
• Runs and maintains equipment
• Develops and reviews safe work practices, provides expertise when participating in safety reviews
• Records experimental work accurately and maintains up-to-date records
• Identifies and implements outside state of the art technologies (chemistry, engineering, analytical, process, etc.) with internal benefit
• Applies statistics to analyze data
• Leads the design & implementation of large capital projects
• Creates new technologies and works with patent attorney to protect intellectual property generated
• Generates project status reports/presentations
• Establishes commitments with internal/external customers
• Mentors junior level scientists
• Demonstrates commitment, dependability and respect with regular attendance and punctuality
• Product Development:

Leads customer facing projects

Leads research to develop new products and processes

Delivers feasibility samples and pre-production prototypes for customer evaluation

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions based on business needs:

• Maintains good housekeeping and resolves any identified safety issues in all work areas
• Orders supplies needed to complete work processes
• Assists with waste disposal
• Maintains awareness of how the position supports the Quality Management System, and participates in quality related activities such as audits and quality improvement teams as necessary
• Participates in safety program activities and presentations
• Prepares materials for shipment to customers

Education/Experience Guidelines:

• Master's degree in Chemistry or related field
• 5-15 years of related experience
• Experience with formulation development
