The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a Clinical Hematologist, to be based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world's top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada's premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.

The Division of Hematology provides comprehensive care for adult patients with a wide variety of benign and malignant hematologic disorders. It is the primary hematology referral center for central and northern Alberta and Northwest Territories, with a catchment area of over 2 million people. There is a strong emphasis on undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well as research within the Division, and ample support is provided to clinical investigators and educators.

Key accountabilities of the hematologist will include, but will not be limited to, providing clinical care for patients with a variety of benign and malignant hematologic disorders. The candidate will be expected to assume a major role in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. Candidates will be expected to actively participate in the education of medical resident trainees and undergraduate students.

The successful candidate will be offered a clinical faculty (non-tenure track) appointment in the Department of Medicine.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Hematology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
