WECU is seeking a Compliance Analyst to join our Compliance team located in Bellingham, WA. This position is responsible for assisting the Compliance Risk Manager to implement, maintain, and administer WECU's Compliance Management Program and ensure that the credit union operations and processes remain compliant with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, as well as the requirements set forth by our internal policies.
Performs appropriate research and provides answers and/or solutions to compliance and legal related questions and inquiries from across the organization, in a timely manner.
Assists with performing ongoing research for regulatory changes, advising on emerging compliance issues and risks, and consulting and guiding management and staff in the establishment of appropriate controls to mitigate potential compliance risks.
Assists with monitoring credit union compliance with all applicable rules and regulations and conducting reviews and assessments that ensure compliance at all levels, including accuracy of policies, procedures, disclosures, forms, and all member facing communications, including all marketing and promotional materials.
Provides ongoing coordination of legal correspondence with legal representation and law enforcement for WECU.

The pay range for this position is $33.80 to $47.72 hourly.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with monitoring and maintaining WECU's Compliance Management Program.
- Field, research, and answer all applicable compliance and legal related questions from business units across the credit union in a timely manner.
- Assists with performing reviews and assessments of processes that are maintained by business units for ongoing compliance with rules and regulations. Provides feedback to departments based on reviews and submits recommended changes to appropriate department lead for update, then ensures changes are completed appropriately.
- Coordinates the timely return of documents formally requested by attorneys and law enforcement (such as subpoenas and summons) as part of ongoing investigations and proceedings, as well as coordinating the security of such requests.
- Works on project teams to represent Compliance when new products are being added or significant changes are being made to current systems.
- Assists with ensuring compliance of member facing communications including marketing and promotional materials.
- In conjunction with the Training & Development Department, assists with coordination and selection of required compliance training programs to all credit union staff based on their roles and responsibilities within the credit union.
- Assists with ensuring all staff whose activities and responsibilities involve transactions covered by the Dodd-Frank Act's "Unfair, Deceptive and Abusive Acts and Practices" (UDAAP) Section have initial and ongoing training.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Compliance Manager.
- Obtain and maintain a relevant compliance certification.
- Assist with ensuring all relevant procedures are up to date and are following rules, regulations, and industry standards.
- Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations. Follows policy and procedures related to SARs by reporting suspicious activity to the Compliance department. Completes mandatory BSA/AML annual training via online web course.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management. Follows WECU's policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned and may also assist others to complete tasks and work assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Financial institution, regulatory compliance, or legal experience preferred.
- CUNA Compliance Expert (CUCE) Certification is preferred.
- Ability to represent the credit union in a positive, professional manner in person, on the telephone and in written correspondence.
- Acute attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain strict level of confidentiality and security in sensitive areas.
- Ability to operate routine office equipment.
- Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
- Flexibility and capacity to manage many responsibilities simultaneously.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to organize projects, to prioritize workflow, and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately.
- Ability to write well.
