Job Summary:

The Smart Building Controls ("SBC") Business Development Manager will be responsible for working closely with internal and external partners to ensure the profitable growth and expansion of SBC products and services. This includes but is not limited to developing strategic and tactical business plans (along with campaign and content development) that are supported by clearly identified customer needs in target markets as well as manage end-to-end sales activities with targeted accounts and contacts.

The position requires a deep understanding of the building controls market and the players in that space, and a develop ability to research, analyze, and identify current market and technology trends affecting commercial and industrial building controls. It will also require in-depth familiarity with the marketing and selling of technology-based solutions to allow that learning to be translated into short- and long-term revenue opportunities. Finally, the role requires an entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to be curious and continually learn.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Develop and execute business plans, both short and long term, to ensure that the SBC business achieves its profitability and growth targets
  • Identify and develop partnerships with other businesses in the building controls industry that can further and support SBC's business objectives
  • Launch new business initiatives on time
  • Review and conduct research on products, services, competitors, and market trends to develop and inform future business strategies and tactics
  • Identify and win new business with new logo accounts and existing customers
  • Coordinate with EMC sales and marketing in the development of branding, pricing, and marketing strategies for SBC solutions
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for identified targeted accounts and any assigned marketing qualified leads
  • Be able to manage and work through complex sales processes including identifying key stakeholders and decision makers
  • Develop customer relationships with all stakeholders, key decision makers, and executives
  • Manage end-to-end sales activities with targeted accounts and contacts within the CRM
  • Lead the end-to-end process of launching and managing new opportunities in the CRM and engage the appropriate cross-functional team members
  • Set high standards that will align with the organization's goals
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline that demonstrates curiosity, technical acumen and problem solving


Experience Required:
  • Minimum 5+ years: business development/strategic marketing/product management of technology products and/or services
  • Experience with Novar, NexRev, JCI and/or Siemen's systems preferred
  • Expert with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using CRM applications such as SalesForce.com preferred


Physical Job Requirements and Working Conditions (include if applicable):
  • Travel up to 30%
  • The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
